Hi
I am getting a bike soon, was going to get an NSR, but the insurance on it is stupid amounts of money (as I am only 17 etc)
I have had a look at KMX / DT etc, and the insurance quotes for those are more in my price range.
Has anyone ever had one? I am planning to take my test early next year (April / May time) so don't want to spend loads on a bike with a lot of plastic, as this will be my first bike (so I will probably drop it, and don't want to spend loads fixing it up ) and when I pass my test it will be sold to get a 400, so again don't want to spend loads on a bike I won't have for long.
Any info would be appreciated, any know roughly how fast it goes? What is it like handling wise? And would you recommend it as a first bike? Forgot to ask - I presume these will be pretty reliable and last (so long as you look after them properly) as they are designed for off road? Is that the case or are they just designed for looks?
Cheers

I have a mate at work almost finished re-building and re-fairing a DT (I think its a DT, ill check) He recons there is about £200 worth of fairing gone onto it and he said he wants bout £500 for it.
And there is another, same but different, this one not road legal and no fairings.
I have the details kicking about here somewhere because one of my other mates was thinking about gettign a bike.
Where do you live? Obviously if its out of the country it is not going to be worth it for you (Skippy suggests Oz) If you live in the UK then Ian lives up in Darlington (North East).

I live in Milton Keynes if you know where that is? I might be interested, getting the details can't hurt, it's just that I have limited transport to get a bike.... |

dt's rock but it ant easy at all to de-restict properly, resticted by exhaust and the powervalve. early ones wernt and would be the ones to get. Later ones had the powervalve servo re-moverd and the latest one have the sevo but its resticed movement i the cdi which is imposible to get rid of i think.
