Well i've decided that after 2 trips on M'Ways that the old M-S-M for car drivers needs to be scrapped and replaced by M-S-L-M
L for Lifesaver.......

Thankfully the trips were in the cage..

I lost count of the number of drivers who never look behind when changing lanes, and one stupid woman took the prize for most stupid.
She's sat in the LH lane behind a wagon, me in middle lane comming up behind her, she signals, but with cars behind me there was no way she was comming out at the 60 she was doing to the 70 (legal limit officer) we were doing, not a big enough gap infront anyway without i hit the brakes to let her out... What happens out she starts to come. Wifes heavy on the WOOOA and i'm hard on the horn.... She flies back over to the LH lane.... Looks back just in time to see her do the same again to car behind me... Only this time straight into him...
As she had done it to me i decides to pull over, felt that the driver needed some support. He coasts up behind me and stops. She limps up looking real sheepish.

Her excuse, well you were in my blind spot.... Like WTF did you not check over you shoulder as you had just done the same to me...... NO, you were in my blind spot too.......
Just shook my head gave the other driver my details if needed and went on our way.

Should have given your details to her as well, then when her insurance company write to you for the evidence of the accident as a witness, you tell them what happened and she hasnt a leg to stand on.
Your her independent witness Very Happy

Other party insurance write to you, same version of events

No, as he gave his details to the other fella, when his insurance contact her's they will advise of an independent witness and they will share the info, I'm sure that's what happened with my off.

yeah i see stuff like that all the time with driving 62 miles to work and then back again, mainly in my cage.

once i was coming off a round about with traffic lights and i was going left, and you dont need to stop as theres a seperate lane for that traffic.......anywho theres a car on my right as im going off on this sperate lane and im going faster then she is and thought i'll undertake (as i had no other choice) but as im getting next to her she just decides she wants to be in my lane right where i am and just moves over without indicating !!!! needless to say i had to break like hell and so i gave her lots of horn and she moved back over before she had rammed me into the side barrier. anyways i pull behind her so the dosey cow could get in the other lane and she wouldnt even look at me as i over took her, as people do when they know they are in the wrong.
her reason for nearly putting me in the barrier.......too bloody busy gabbing away to her car full of friends, and she was still doing it when i over took her !! women should NOT be allowed to drive !!

good on you though mate for stopping to help the guy out, its people like her that cause most of the accidents and shouldnt be allowed on the roads !! aaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh.......rant over !!! hehehe....sorry.

Did no one tell you about blindspots?

Or is it wise to drive thinking everyone can see you and knows exactly what you are about to do?

Be careful out there children.

ALL humans are stupid.

Surprisingly they kill or maim each other everyday. Shocked Laughing

I'd just like to point out that I drive a Ford Transit van and use lifesavers everytime I change lane, and did so before I learned to ride!

To be fair though, my dad is IAM and did train me!

I see lots of drivers either not paying enough attention, or just badly trained making similar mistakes whenever I'm out driving for work though...

Everyone makes mistakes every now and then. Fair enough if they do it all the time however, how can anyone be the judge of that if you just witness one occurrence of stupidity (even if they cut up two people). I just find it laughable that people criticize other people's driving because they next time they are riding along and they make one single mistake, they have a hell of a long way to fall.

So now its your fault that she pulled out into you ????
The last thing i worry about is that I'm sat in their blind spot, not easy to tell anyway if you are anyway... And when passing someone its a 100% certainty that you will go through it.
The main thing is its their responsibility to ensure its safe to pull out. Had she looked over her shoulder she would have seen the car....

So next time someone pulls out of a side road and knocks you off, its your fault for being in their blind spot at the moment they look ???

I had to use my horn about 5 times on my 45-mile commute to work this morning, all because of drivers trying to squeeze in front of me.

After rear-ending a car when it did an emergency stop, I'm very cautious about how far I stay behind vehicles.

Each and every time it happened, I was maintaining about a 2-2.5 second gap between the car in front, when some prick in the left lane would decide he's not going fast enough and choose to indicate and manoeuvre at the same time into the gap.

Look in their wing mirror, if you cant see their face, you are in their blind spot. Smile

Dont think he meant that, what he is saying is when in fast moving traffic, dont ride along while in the blind spot, either drop back so you can be seen in mirrors, or go forward so you are in front of them

And if you can only see their eyes, they may be about to rob a bank.

Yep your right, but sometimes its not possible when your lane is keeping a simular speed to theirs.
At the end of the day they should not move till they are 100% sure its safe and by not looking over their shoulder they cannot be that 100%.

people shouldnt do a lot of things but they do. Smile

I would rather get somewhere a little later and in one piece than assume the driver has seen me when they havent.

As a car driver it is very very easy to miss a bike, even looking over your shoulder to have a check... a bike is small enough to be hidden by the blind spot and the door beam on a car.

Better safe than sorry Thumbs Up
