From what I've gathered it's usually a ban, but someone on here got really lucky and just had his bike impounded and had to pay a fine to get it back. Then he restricted it.

Being on A2 sucks, but nowhere near as much as L plates Laughing

I agree with the whole restriction thing but what I want is acceleration, not really bothered about top speed tbh.

dont smash and when you get pulled be kind but not ass kissing to the copper. Or buy a brand new DRZ and get the 33bhp kit and hand the bike back to them. They won't know the difference.

Failing to comply with the conditions of your driving licence.
£60 + 3 points.
Possibility of bike seized until someone with correct licence comes to collect it (& you've paid the recovery bill, currently £105 + £12 a day storage in Avon & Somerset!)

Simple as that.

Im pretty good at that, I got pulled a couple of months back on a 50 with no cbt, had a little chat with the plod and they let me go!

I was only wondering because I want to do my A2 in october and hopefully buy a cbr400 babyblade and thats 50bhp. As long as its only a fine and not a ban I'm happy, its not like I want stupid power, I do agree with the principle of restriction but 33bhp is a bit slow!

put it in for a month (or longer...) so its not so much of a jump from a 125, and then you can take it out, you have paper work for the 33bhp to show plod if he asks as well which is allways a plus Thumbs Up

Great role model you are for up and coming bikers. Have you ever considered complying with the rules and regulations rather than trying to break every single one of them?

I broke one rule, riding without CBT which I learnt from and booked it the next day.
Also Im not saying I want to break the restriction rules, just stretch them slightly Thumbs Up

In this case stretching equals breaking. There is no grey area you know, you are either complying with the 33bhp restriction or you are not, simple as.

You have no idea what 33bhp is.

My 24 bhp pushes me up to 80mph without any worries. 33 bhp with the BabyBlades weight will put you over a ton.

How can you stretch a restriction? the licence will say in balck and white you cannot do this. If you then go and do it then that is breaking the restriction not stretching it.

Technically you would also be riding without insurance, which is also a fine and points.

You should keep in mind that for the first two years you will be effectively be restricted to six points on your licence rather than a full twelve.

A lot of people don't bother and a lot of people get away with it, however do you really believe you are that lucky?

Well thats why I was asking, just incase I dont.
So Im guessing you think I should get it restricted then kal.
I know what Matt thinks, and theres no need to get stressed thats why I was asking.
And yes Matt your opinion is appriciated, thank you Thumbs Up

Put it this way, it does no harm to have it restricted and you don't have to worry about getting busted.

Interesting - I'm not so sure about this as I remember a traffic copper saying on another forum that in situations like this (or something else that could 'invalidate' the insurance like undeclared modifications) although the insurance company could refuse to cover the damage to your vehicle if it's comprehensively insured, they cannot get out of third party liability, although they might try and recover their costs from you.

Not sure how true this is however, just what I heard from one source.

That sounds about right. The insurance company have to cover any damage caused to a third party by you, even if you were breaking the rules such as riding not in accordance with your licence or if you were pissed out of your mind etc.

They may choose not to pay out for your own personal losses (if applicable) and I suppose if they should want to they could try to persue you through the courts for all of the losses that they have incurred if you are deemed to have broken the 'rules' somehow.

I got caught around 6 and a half weeks ago on a full power CBR600 for doing "over 122mph" (was actually getting to around 170mph on the speedo by the end of the road Laughing Would never have been caught if the traffic lights on the turn off where bloody green! Sad )and so far been fined for no tax (£70) and had my bike impounded (£150ish to get back!)

Not yet heard anything else...

Already got 3 points for speeding aswell as a 7 week ban for averaging 110mph over a mile whilst undertaking (restrictions never mentioned these two times!)

EDIT: Also is was pretty much 6 weeks to the day that i got a court summons though last time. The guy never mentioned nothing about a court summons this time, but did say "looks like you've lost your license" as soon as he pulled me over. I wish i new what i was waiting for Rolling Eyes !

EDIT 2: ALSO when i went to pick bike up all the bloke mentioned was "been done for no insurance mate? got ur papers" or somthing like that, which i handed over and pretty much rode away!

You've gotten caught twice over the ton in six weeks?

I'd say thats a wee bit stupid that. If you get to keep your licence through some miracle of the gods maybe you ought to consider slowing a down a little.

Isn't there an unwritten law that you should sitck within 30mph of the speed limit (30-60, 40-70, 50-80 and 70-100) and also if you stick below a ton people shouldn't question your restriction as much.

It's more that people seem to lose licences if they see a judge for being 30 over, especially if ton-up.

I believe you should ride appropriately to conditions, and if you got caught speeding then you obviously wasn't. Reason being you wouldn't have been caught.

The fact you got done for riding a scooter without a CBT and now you want to ride an unrestricted bike on a 33bhp licence indicates you actually haven't learnt anything from getting done, so don't try and make out you have.

It's also the fact you think you're too good to be restricted to 33bhp? You've not even ridden a 33bhp CBR400 yet, you may find it's perfectly rideable (which it is), and won't get left behind in anything other than a long straight line.

I got pulled for - well lets jsut say going to fast. They took my bike, tested it etc and it was restricted. Somedays youre just not going to have lady luck on your side. Thats why, however tempting it is im going to keep mine in. You can still ride like a pillock mind. Wink

okay i want this question sorted!
I don't give a shit whether you think the bike should be restricted or not, that has been covered in this thread. What I want to know is whats going to happen if you get caught and its not 33bhp?

Sorry for being blunt and moody but this thread is dyeing and its in need of some order to answer the question not your opinions on it Evil or Very Mad

Thanks in advance Mr. Green Thumbs Up
