Like the title says,

I'm looking for a new Laptop but which one ?

Price is not an issue, I'm willing to go as high as 2500 dorra. I have been looking at some of the top alienware ones.

Any experience ?

Recommendations to Wink

Want to add it will be used for school but gaming is needed out of it to Wink

Is it going to be moved around much? The big XPS and Alienware lappies are horrifically heavy to carry around all day.

When you say gaming, are you looking to play stuff like Crysis and Bioshock on it? Or are you looking at playing less video intensive stuff like mmos and strategy games?

Hmmm Mark, not bad.

Built one up and it came to 3100.

Twin graphics, fastest AMD, 4 gigs of ram decent sound card, 250 gig HD and all that.

Not sure on the price but it would last a while.

I'd lean towards a Dell XPS with a Core 2 Duo cpu myself, more sheer power than the AMDs, but then I don't think Dell do a twin GPU XPS?

Those and the Alienwares are a pretty similar size, 17" widescreen and not too thick, ~1.5 to 2 inches thick if I remember rightly on the XPS. The weight really is a killer on those things though.

If you want to play next gen games then thats the way you'll need to go, you can get some amazing thin and lights (Sony Vaio SZ series for example) that'll do a reasonable job on current games, but they simply won't be able to run stuff like Crysis.

Thats the problem with pc's as well.

Every time I get it running sweet with current gen games. They decide its time to push it higher again Laughing

Ive got the Aurora M9700 speced to over 2k, my boss bought it for me as i move a bit from time to time and is easier for me. Its a heavy beast i class it as a mobile PC not a lightweight laptop. The battery life sucks but its as close as PC that you will get m8, i got 2 gfx cards with both at 512mb = a gig of gaming ram and 2 gig standard memory. I compared it to the top of the range Dell and tbh the reviews where saying the Dell XPS was not up to much. I got the alienware backpack which is expensive but again i was not paying for it, i would recommend them as i use it for photography also. You need a sturdy rucksack to carry it tbh not somthing you want to be holding with one arm for long. The thing i do not like about it is the size of the mains charger its bloody huge and heats up like a b@st@rd, would be enough to heat my room in the winter.

All in all they are expensive will probobly be outdated in a year but what can you do to keep up unless you can buy a new one each year. I use mine for gaming such as BF 2142 - CSS mostly with photoshop and other image editing programs. If you want anymore info let me know.

The screen size is great tbh i upgraded to his rez 1920x1080, its like most screens now its very reflective when used outside, very hard to see if you are outside. The sound is not 2 loud but i use speedlink medusa usb portable headphones anyway. You will find its not a laptop you can leave on your lap as the heat the comes out the back is extereme. All in all its a good machine and prob a bit over priced but it works for me.
