I'm missing something in my life, that spare few hours when I'm bored and its pissing down outside....

Quite a few mates have bought one and now I feel like a reject!!

So tell me, is £250 for a 360 money well spent? Will I get bored of it or will Xbox Live and beating my mates give me £250's worth of satisfaction???

Looking at some of the games they do look good, up and coming Assassin's Creed looks the bollocks, what else is good?

I would definately say go for it, and while your at it you may as well get the elite.

I use mine for games and DVD's and Im thinking of getting the HD drive.

Xbox live is easy to use and cheap as chips, get the odd nob head knocking about but thats life I guess. The hardware can be a bit pants at times (Im waiting for my third box to be delivered) but the warranty is there for things like that!!

As for games, assassins creed should be good, half life 2, call of duty 4, Halo 3, the darkness, flatout TC, call of juarez etc etc I think GT4 has been knocked back though.

Get yourself one and watch the hours roll by and they help keep cash in the bank! Wink

Do you not have textiles, if not buy a set of those instead.

With some games you get the impression that the online part of it takes precedence over the single player. Before I joined xbox live this used to seriously piss me off. Now I pay about £4.50 a month for live and im now 'One of them'!! Its best if you have a load of mates on at once and you can just throw the abuse about as much as you like!

Aye its definetly worth it Col, over the past 2 or 3 months Ive ended up spending over £600 on the entertainment system for my room, decided to buy a 32" HD TV to go with the 360. As for hardware trouble ive not had any at all (as of yet *fingers crossed*) Xbox live is also brilliant, so far I've been on it 3 months, and not paid a penny Wink You can get a free month when your first join and judge it that way.

As for you Rob, do you know the waurentee has been extended to 3 years?

Have you tried the wrapping in towels trick for twenty or so mins? Sometime cures the ROD on the 360's

As for the Elite 360 I would wait a few months as its the same budget chips inside, hopefully MS will be doing a revamp soon. Mind you they still wont admit there is a problem with the 360! Thumbs Down

I think setting aside over billion dollars to repair a fault and Peter Moore (head of MS' games buisness) admitted that faults were commonplace is enough of an admission of a problem for me. They have really skirted around the question though when applied to the Elite.

one of many...

Clicky

You would think so but they still charge £80 to repair the older boxes that had only a 12month warranty, when they should be reimbursing money already given to them for their design faults.

STOP THERE!

3 red rings is an acknowledged issue with MS and they are extending the warranty for that specific problem. I'm just returning mine to MS becasue of that same problem and I've had mine since release.

RING OF DEATH microsoft statement

(and I 'might' have un-modded the firmware before doing it Razz )

would be brilliant if the have to send me a new/refurb one instead of mine as I seem to have issues getting onto live anymore.... Razz

If you don't want to return yours for whatever reason even if out of warranty still, I have been looking at some modding stuff and would be interested in buying as broken.

Got a link to the source? AFAIK it's NOT the same motherboard inside. And I thought the problem stemmed from Euro friendly lead free solder?

Still not decided yet...(around £300 while the white one's drop to £250)
