Why is it that online companies will only dispatch goods to the address my credit card bill goes to?

Do they not realise that most people in this country have their credit card bills sent to their home. Most people in this country also work during the day. This means that if they try to deliver anything larger than my letterbox, it isn't going to happen.

What really gets my goat is they often don't tell you this is the case until you've gone through the whole rigmarole of entering all your details. In fact, one of them went as far as confirming the purchase and I had to phone up and cancel. Busts my balls!

So, failed on my third attempt to buy brake discs for my car today for this very reason. They wont dispatch to my work and I wont be at home to receive them. I am fucked if I'm paying £15 carriage to then do a 50+ mile round trip to collect them from the depot.

The whole point of me trying to get them delivered is that: a) My brakes are fucked beyond redemption, down to metal and b) I don't have time to go and collect them during the day on account of working.

This means I'm going to have to try to sneak off work at some point and drive into TMS to get some. If I set fire to something with showers of sparks from my fucked brakes, I accept no responsability.

This is a personal fucking peeve of mine as well, so much so that I WILL NOT deal with any company that will not deliver to my work address rather than my billing address out of principal.

Companies should be fucking serving me, not saying "Well prove you're not a crim and you can have it"

Fuck off

Well it works bloody well then, if I don't buy anything then there's no chance of fraud!

Laughing it's very easy for hackers to get hold of credit card details, a lot of them use them for online purchases of WoW gold etc. that can be sold for real cash.

some shops won't deliver to other address's other than the billers adress in case the card is being used fraudulently by a hacker to deliver goods to his home address instead of your own.

Strange, everything I buy online with my credit card is never sent to my billing address.

Hi

Done to prevent fraud, but you can often add a 2nd (or 3rd) address to the credit card for alternative delivery addresses.

All the best

You think thats bad? I recently made a purchase for my girlfriends birthday, the kind of purchase you wouldn't want your parents seeing...

The goods turned up at the address I wanted them to, but they sent the bloody invoice to my billing address (the parents) who have permission to open all mail addressed to me incase its something important.

So now the p's probably wonder what i'm doing with a rampant rabbit. Great.

I did ages ago when I ordered some stuff as a present to be delivered to my parents. From memory not something you would do on the spot, but easy enough to do for future use.

All the best

I order a lot online, and have only ever come across one or two sites that didn't give the option for an alternate delivery address, strange. Though because I don't actually work at my works address it's no good to me and they get pissed off taking all your deliveries, so I always have to go and get stuff from the sorting office on saturday mornings due to their ridiculous opening times.

Most companys only insist on it going to your billing address on your first order...

M and p do it, most of the online computer companies do (although IIRC ebuyer don't yet)...
