I brought a new scooter a whole week and a half ago and this morning it is quite clear someone has tried to nick it! when i was getting ready to go to work i noticed that the panel under the handle bars was damaged with what appears to be someone trying to get it off with a crowbar. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

its brand new and looks really slick, but it is a chinese import and although it has a cool retro look, its not a known name and is not worth loads of money. the handle bars were locked and i had a bike chain through the back wheel and yet they steal tried to steal it!! Mad Mad Mad

can you help with any advice on what i can do to stop this happening again? im worried now that whoever tried to tea leaf it last night will come back and try again or damage it out of spite if they cant. am i being paranoid or does this actually happen?? Surprised

i live in a nice village so nowhere is safe really and my scooter is my only form of transport.

any advice would be most welcome, thank you!!

make sure the chain goes through the back wheel and over the top of the rear seat, that way nobody can try to smash it while it lies on the deck and it's more visual.

Other than that..... disc lock or alarm, try parking under a a PIR sensor light or install a ground / Wall anchor of some description.

My bike lives outside and I have disc lock, heavy duty chain, wall anchor and a bike cover, and to my knowledge nobody has even looked under the cover....

try a good dedicated bike cover. if you are really paranoid then attatch a personal panic alarm to the cover and the floor, if they take the cover off it triggers the panic alarm Thumbs Up

Yeah, chain it to something solid with the biggest chain you can find. Or take it inside because they'll be back.

Petty vandalism out of spite is not unheard of.

Be especially wary on windy/rainy nights when they can 'work' on it without anyone hearing.

The panic alarm idea is fucking pure genius! Very Happy

I keep my bike in the garden, gate bolted, razor spikes ontop, disc lock, under a stormex cover.

Can't nick it if they don't know its there! Razz
