Hi,
As some of you may have read, I have a 1993 gsf 400 bandit vv, but it's gearbox is buggered (second gear). Now, I realise that with this problem the bike's not worth that much even If I break it.
There's a guy on Ebay asking £40 incl postage for a used complete gearbox for this engine. My plan is to buy this gearbox off him, and when I get my newer bike (In a couple of months time) ATTEMPT to split the engine and install the working gearbox. Do any of you have any idea how hard this job is? I've been told it's a huge job. The thing is though, the engine's not worth that much with a naffed gearbox, unless I split it and sell the top end seperate etc.
Do you think it's a worthwhile risk attempting to split the engine and swap the gearbox over with a good chance I would get stuck?
Have any of you got any advice you could give me? They don't even do a haynes manual for this bike which is the shitty thing. I have the service pdf though.
Cheers for any help any of you can give me. |

This is taken fom that link of yours ...
The bike has the same engine internals as the GSF400 Bandit but has different engine cases and a much larger frame. The motor’s still highly strung and therefore somewhat misplaced in retro guise. Two different versions were made, the GSX400S had a cockpit fairing and blue/white paint scheme. ____________________ Weather you are suffering from glaucoma or have just rented "The Matrix", medical marijuana can make things fabulous.
