...and Kymco have made it!

https://krsport.kymco.co.uk/

Looks like a miniature CBR600RR. It's another 4-stroke so it won't fly, but it looks pretty nice.

After watching that intro I had an unexplainable urge to go and pick a fight with a vulnerable person such was the level of chav.

Crapp intro aside it looks ok, although I would rather have the CBR, because it's a Honda.

Is that not a complete rip off of the CBR anyway?

I'd rather have a GT125R if I had to have a "Sports" bike to be honest...

Note the Kymco is listed at 141kg as well as the 65mph - so worryingly the CBR probably would seem to have better 'sports' performance in comparison.

I believe 'sports styled' would be the appropriate description.

Otherwise it'd be like sticking a fireblade fairing on an old goldwing and considering it a 'sports' bike Razz.

The bike the CBR125 should have been...

Why? it looks even worse, cheap make, underpowered, overweight - at the end of the day you can't even say 'at least it's a Honda' Laughing

A sign of things to come for sure. Thumbs Up

Funky intro is only let down by the bikes looks but it's a start for Kymco. Bearing in mind, it's Kymco's 'first' attempt at a 'sports' orientated machine, I think they've done well. Naturally it's going to look like others on the market, it's hard to differentiate between some of the larger makes anyway. Razz

CBR125 should have had the unrestricted 18-20hp CB125T motor really.

But the CBR125 is aimed at being "learner legal" ie. under 14bhp.

If you want wingmirrors on the fairing, go get the nose fairing off a CBR150. Job done.

https://www.riverside-jp.com/th/cbr150_wide_aa500.jpg

If you want a pretty and reliable 125, get a cbr125.
If you want speed and sportyness, get an NSR or RS. Simple as really...

What have I started? Laughing

I've been away from the PC for a bit but before I read all those comments I had a look at the site and others on the net and realised that it was actually a bit shit.

I wouldn't buy one myself, I just liked the look of it. And even then it is a bit of a rip-off of the 2007 CBR125.

Forgive me my ignorance... Embarassed

I'd still have a CBR Very Happy

It is a copy of the CBR125, just as the AJS CR3 is.
(crap pic I know)

To be fair, it's pretty easy to tell the difference between different makes/models out there, and that GT125R is a sports bike, not just trying to look like one. I've been 'up close and personal' with one, they are a BIG little bike, and can go if ridden right. Thumbs Up

What I've always wondered was if you could get decent performance out of the varadero/shadow 125 engine in an NSR-size frame.

It wouldn't get up to NSR performance levels, admittedly, but at least it wouldn't be quite as skinny as the CBR.

Easy enough to restrict to 15hp for legalities sake......

The CB125T motor would propel the slightly heavier CB125 toward the 90 mph mark with a favourable incline and would hit 80 on the level. Not bad for a 4 stroke 125.

If you want speed and sportiness, you pass your test and get a more powerful bike.
