Well I learnt this today. The pillion peg likes to fold in when the front end comes really high, So they arent as high as they could be just yet, Looking into a locking mechanism for the pillion peg.

Other than that, im still trying to find a "balancing point", I can keep the front up for about 100 meters, but then i find im bouncing off the rev limiter. I cant seem to "stop accelerating", Just keep gaining speed until I run out of revs.

Still, impressed with myself none the less. Got videos to come too. Cool

Balancing point is far further back than that, try getting it gradually higher and bringing it back with brake when it gets hairy

Cant get me toes on the brake when the bike is at that angle. Throttle closure is enough to bring the front down anyway.

I dont feel comfortable bringing it higher up yet either because of the loose pillion peg. It folds in, I nearly fell off because of it. Laughing

I need to make some sort of sleeve which goes over the peg and past the hinge so it doesn't let it fold up.

Drill though the peg hanger in the gap between the peg and the hanger (where it folds) and put a nail/pin type thing through it then the peg can't physically fold up.

I doubt you're doing 100 meters at that height in the pic on a 400.. 100 meters is about 360 ft or so. which is quite a bit... balance point is about here (this pic is "just" below), depending on speed, but on a 400 you'll need to be way up here to balance it.

But you seriously want to be covering and ready to use the brake before going this high as this is where flips will happen.. if you go past bp the engine brake WONT save you on a standard geared cbr400. especially if you go past it at speed.

keep practicin, but learn to cover the rear brake at al times now, then when you get good enough to slow it down you will be used to having your foot over the brake.

Damnnnn that is THE worst how to wheelie guide I have seen in a LONG while!

wheelying a push bike is NOTHING like wheelyin a motorbike, except for the basic principles. balance point is completely different and I stunt on both! (yes I do stunt push bikes!! is fun) push bikes flip REALLY quick if you arent on the rear brake.

MCN should be ashamed of themselves for that bollocks video they made!! It was probably dangerous to n00bs and just made them look stupid

The photos were taken quite early on, I did get the front quite a bit higher than in the picture. 100 meters probably is a bit optimistic come to think of it, Im shit with distances. I was lifting the front wheel up way back at the curb in the background of the photo, and the front was still up until id passed the camera.

Good idea on the peg locking idea though, Ill give it a try tomorrow.

That's the same way that I'm learning, I'm still getting used to the front popping up though. Man I suck. Sad

I've been trying to wheelie recently on my bandit 400. I've tried accelerating steadily through first gear and the front doesn't come up. I've tried taking it to the powerband (6k) and then slipping the clutch, but that hasn't worked. Am I giving it enough revs? I had what has felt like the front coming up happen twice, not sure if it was just the forks decompressing though...

On the 400s you need to really work them to get the front up, they wont wheelie under power.

When I stand up wheelie, Its a case of dipping the clutch and bliping the throttle open and once the front is up gradually increasing the revs.

Sit down wheelies I roll forwards at about 15mph, Dip the clutch and take it to about 10k Rpm, Then briskly let the clutch out holding the power on.

Thanks for that. I'll keep trying. Sorry for hijacking your thread, it was quite rude. Nice wheelies, where about do you live, if you don't mind me asking?
