Hi all. I was told by the dealer that I would have to change the oil for the first time after 300 km. I have a 50cc 4 stroke JM star madness 50QT-13 moped.

Firstly where would I find the oil drain bolt on the bottom. Also in my instructions manual it says it takes an oil call L-ERB specially for a 2 stroke but this cant be the case as my moped is a 4 stroke. If this ok where can I obtain the oil from?

Many thanks Aran.

The oil drain bolt will be on the bottom of the engine, below the crank. Not on the gearbox bit.

If you feel a bit stuck, look at the bottom, directly under where the spark plug sits. It should be the biggest bolt down there, I would expect anything from a 14mm to 19mm head on that.

For oil, pick up some 10W40 4 stroke engine oil from halfords. It doesn't need to be motorcycle specific, and it doesn't need to be expensive oil in that engine. Probably takes about a litre.

Have you asked Mr. Haynes?

I think Mr Haynes may laugh at you when ask for a manual for a "JM star madness"

Aran. You should really be asking your dealer if it is not a common bike. Then, should anything go wrong, you will have grounds for a legitimate complaint.

I'm a little surprised that you have to do the first oil change.

There's a generic moped Haynes manual (if my memory serves me correctly)
