Can you wash bike covers? My Oxford Stormex is a bit filthy inside & wanna stick it in the washing machine but it's got a very soft lining. Can't see any labels on the cover. Would it be safe to wash the cover without loosing the lining?

Cheers. Thumbs Up

I definitely wouldn't put it in the washing machine, as I doubt you'd have much of the lining left, it'd be in the filter, causing all kinds of obstructions.

Just turn it inside out and jet wash it, or if that's not an option, just wash it with a garden hose. I washed mine by throwing a couple of buckets of soapy water on it and dabbing it with a sponge (don't rub, as that'll remove the lining) and then rinsing it with a garden hose.

I tried hosing it down but don't think it was powerful enough, i'll just leave it. Maybe leave it inside out next time it rains, although they take AGES to dry.

I think I would try washing it on a 30 degree hand wash in a washing machine set for extreme delicates.

Loz suggests putting it inside a sealed quilt cover to stop the fluff blocking the machine.

After its washed hang it out to dry then reproof it with fabsil tent water proofer and sealer.
