I nod at every one in the UK.

If they don't nod back I put it down to the fact they where paying attention to other things in/on the road, mind you if they are on a harley I put it down to them being twats. Laughing

Here in the states scooter riders get no attention mind and you don't nod you stick an arm out.

im currently riding a scooter (Runner VX 125) and after 10 years of riding smelly 2 stroke nsr's tzr's RD's etc i can honestly say im loving it, (so much so that im going to do my DAS just so i can get a Nexus)

anyway back to the point, i find that on my scooter if im in ordinary clothes (jeans t-shirt) etc then i get blanked, but if i have my Richa textile jacket and gloves on then i seem to get a few nods, if i put my bright red/white leather yamaha jacket on then i get even more nods,

and i have to admit i tend not to nod at scooters/peds as most of them ARE being ridden by chavs and stupid smelly little inbred morons don't have a clue what the nods all about and just ride by (probably thinking, wat da fook was up wif dat guy.......Innit )

Clothesline? Laughing

I've never got a nod back from anybody on a ped, so I can't be arsed anymore.

Most people will give the peace sign or a thumbs up.

Obviously a thumbs down if a trooper is waiting up the road.

Scooter riders here don't need insurance,a license, a license plate and you have to be 14 or older.

You find most of them are people who lost their license drink driving hence the ignoring by every one.

For me to nod or not at a scooter rider, it depends on how they are riding and their 'apparent' attitude on the road. If they are apparently 'sensible' then I will acknowledge but if they are being idiots then I won't acknowledge. Saying that I don't acknowledge bikers who are being idiots either.

By idiots I mean endangering themselves or others on the road.

these are all good points i would l to agree with 2t-Screamerike alot of scooter riders are tossers probably 90% and i mine is paint fiesta ztech orange and custom black paint so i kind of put my self with the 90% but i do always ride with the textile jacket etc

I nod to everyone, regardless of what I'm riding or what they're riding. Unless they're being a nob.

I can't wait to get my scooter on the road actually - I'm interested to know people's attitudes to a ratted 'ped Very Happy

Razz

As mentioned, rarely get a nob back from scooter riders.
More so, where should we draw the line - what about trikes (ugh), or more sensibly, bike engined kit cars, which are much nearer to what I like about bikes than scooters generally are?

I nod at everyone, and on Saturday I had nods back from everyone... except scooters/moped riders. Even BIG girls on custom/choppers/HDs nodded back it was quite refreshing. I even had a copper nod at me on the M5 the other night, I was so taken aback I almost didn't get my return nod in. Wink

I love the whole biker nod thing. I used to drive a Lotus Elise, and every Elise driver would wave and flash (their lights).

When I did my CBT, we were sitting in a queue of traffic, when 2 guys on GSXRs passed us from the opposite direction and gave us the nod. Made me enjoy the whole thing even more.

I asked a biker friend about this, and he said that bikers generally nod to all other bikers.... unless it's someone on a twist and go.

depends how they are riding and what they are wearing. I nod to all the old guys on little scooters though. If there are a group of scooters i tend not to nod either. innit

I voted yes, but it does depend... if the scooter riders are wearing proper clothes I normally nod, if the're wearing white trainers and a hoody, then I don't.

Plus... if the scooter is over 50cc, the chances are that I'll nod, if it isn't I might not.

I know a Harley rider who will happily ride with me on my Japanese bike and he acknowledges other riders, even warns the rider f jap bikes to slow down if cop is about.

Not all Harley riders are twats!!

As for scooters, I don't nod to kids who rag around the place, but those that are sensible I do nod to.

I'd love to have voted yes but its a no, with scooters i wait for them to nod and then return it. Very rarely they do.

I nod at every thing on two wheels and to be honest rarely bother to see if they acknowledge me as I'm usually too busy checking the road ahead

but I know that I did what I wanted to do
