What cars can you drive on a bike licence other than a reliant robin because there a bit out dated?

i think it depends on when you passed your test as it changed around 98 (ish) , like category B1, under 500kgs or something. But it seems to have been covered a few times (just a quick search returned these Wink ...)

Nothing really worth driving.

In the long run you'd save time & money by passing your car test then driving a more "mainstream" car.

Didn't I already twitch about this?

Prior to 2001 you would get class B1 with a Bike licence that entitles you to ride Trikes and Quads

Post 2001 you'll find that your Bike licence no longer entitles you to Class B1. which means no quads and no trikes which say Trike on the V5c*

Apparently I'm not safe on a trike while some Cunt with a class A licence and no bike experience is fine.

This came out of a study group called safer motorcycling, which included such groups as MAG. The reasoning was that because only 1 in 10 bikers dosn't have have a class A licence it would only affect a minority of riders. Which is absolute Cock

Wankers. Makes me want to track down every last one of the members of that panel and take a dump on their doorstep.

Back on subject some light cars are classed as either trikes or Quads based on how many wheels they have, which means they can be ridden/driven on a Class B1 entitlement.

* The same vehicle can be ridden on a Class A entitlement if it's V5c reads Three wheeled Bike.

Ye oldie bubble car - classic

You'd still need class B1 though.

Erm, no. If you have a B1 (a license they used to grant when passing a full A test pre-1997 or thereabouts) then you can, that's for "light car" (ie trikes and quadricycles under 550 kilos). You can not under any circumstances drive a Reliant on a category A license regardless of when it was obtained Wink

If you know differently and can prove it with a direct link to a .gov or DVLA source then please tell me otherwise, I know a fair few people who would be interested to know that it was as you say Very Happy

The Law could of changed then(buggers never told me though), but I did drive one after I passed my bike test but before my car test all legally(wasn't mine, I didn't like the handling of a plastic pig). Embarassed

The insurance companies wont insure peeps on trikes with only a car licence any more.

Remember I asked for my wife to drive a trike on her car licence? She cant get insurance without a bike licence!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps the insurance companies know more than the DVLA

Try Adrian Flux, should be no problem for them

Both me and my Misses are insured - I've only got a Bike licence, which means I have to obey Learner requirements and she only has a Car licence.

If you have any Trike related problems drop me a pm. I can usually help.
