Started my DAS yesterday and gotta say, if you can pass without any lessons you gotta be shit hot.

Overall the lesson went well, main problem was getting used to a bike that you have never ridden before with brakes that feel different etc.

Anyway what I want to know is how many lesson, as in hours, did you do before you took your test. Bit worried that the instructor is being a bit cautious or maybe its just I am shitter than I thought???

Sad

I think I did about 10 hours in total. Passed first time with 2 minors. That was on my own bike though.

I did a 2 day DAS, of which 60% of the time seemed to be spent stopping for brews/bacon sandwiches/more brews/idle chat... After my first day I'd decided that a DAS was just a lesson in Motorcycle social etiquette Shocked

5 day DAS plus a couple of hours before my test, flew through with 3 minors.

I went into the course with very little motorbike experience so for me the extra days were worthwhile I think.

That sounds like quite a lax training school that you went with. I'd prefer one that concentrated on the training a little more than the social side of things. Very Happy

Yeah tbh on the first day I was getting really pissed off with it.... I kept thinking "I've paid money for training not to stand around Rolling Eyes" but I passed with no minors so who am I to complain Cool

Just because you passed okay doesn't make it an acceptable way of training people though.

Perhaps not... But every single person who took their test during my time there and on my test day passed, and a couple of my m8s have used them since and they both passed as well. So the trainers must be doing something right....

They must be then. Perhaps if they feel that their pupils are competent then they can relax the training regime a little, where as if they are not so good maybe they put more emphasis on actual training. If a lot of the people that you know who have used that training school pass without a problem then fair enough they must be reasonably good. Thumbs Up

I did the two-day DAS, with a one-hour pre-test lesson; passing my test with 2 minors. Each day involved about 6.5 hours of riding; and on both days' afternoons, my instructor took me into the countryside for some fun riding as a break from the city-learning.

i'd have preferred that. I was absolutely knackered after my first day on a CBR500 that was too damn small.

I was praying at times to stop for a brew, and a stretch.

Maybe they think that the students can take more in, when they get to know the guys and don't have an empty stomach. Would make you less nervous anyway, but there has to be some good training as well.
