Only been riding for a few weeks (passed CBT and got a JinLun 125-11 cruiser)

Whilst riding back from work today I was almost blown clean off the bike - at least twice!!! Bloody bricked myself... Embarassed Embarassed

Daft question really - but is there anything I could do to minimise this (with the exception of getting back into a car!)

Cheers.....

Few tips in that thread.

Namely, grip the bike with your legs.
On mine i tuck my legs under the buldge of the tank and hold on.

Leaning into the winds would help you. I don't think there's much more you can do really apart from make sure you have nothing sail like on your bike.

Also, make sure you don't have a death grip on the bars. Keep your arms loose and relaxed at all times, if you tense up not only will your control of the bike be compromised but you will worsen the effect of the wind (as well as every other problem that seeks to derail the bike) on the machine by a severe margin. Make sure you can wiggle your elbows as a test of how loose you are.

Theres the flyover on the A27 shoreham Airport - Gets me 9/10 times. I tend to grip the tank, duck down and hold on - If its really windy ill choose another route. Last time I got pushed onto the outside lane, lucky there wasnt another car there Thumbs Up

Exactly Thumbs Up
If you have a death grip on the bars, any movement or vibration etc could potentially be transferred thru you to the rest of the bike.
Also the death grip will tend to cramp your arms/hands after a while.

I always remember when I first stared, my instructor telling us to practice "the Funky Chicken".. (when it's safe to do so) flap your elbows up and down to be sure your arms remain loose and relaxed. We occasionally got some confused looks from pedestrians but I found that it worked.
