smooths out the power, slightly increases it, gives more torque.

can be done for around £250-£300 so doesnt cost much.

they make a nice noise too Thumbs Up

properly set up on a rallye with a cam can produce 130~ bhp.

In general you will lose power due to the carbs being a million times harder to tune, I read somewhere tuning carbs is a bit of a black art, too many thinks to take into consideration.

Also you'd have to change the entire ignition system/ecu. A few people do it on the swift gti and I looked into it but didn't seem worth it at all. just buy a superchip or something.

Wouldn't you just attach an open and close bowden cable to the end of the accelerator pedal lever then fit the other ends to the carbs in the normal way? Or am I being simple?

Will you have to mod the vacuum chamber too? I'd have thought you'd be getting much more vacuum off the car engine which would open the carb too far too quickly. Maybe have to drill a hole or two in the base of the throttle valve?

My brother is putting ZZR1100 carbs on his 2.0 16v Corsa at the minute.

The carbs will be balanced and set up by my mate.

He got a manifold made by https://www.boggbros.co.uk/

You either have injectors or carbs, not both. Isn't the diameter of the intake ports gonna be a problem, presumably they wont be the same as an R6, and then your carbs will need spacing out aswell to fit over the more widely spaced intakes etc. Seems like a lot of hassle for something that's probably not gonna work very well at all and no doubt gonna lose you power and screw your fueling.

The way I see it, if you have efi, just play with that.. a properly set up injection system will be better than carbs, won't fall out of tune, and it's much easier to fiddle around with.

I'm waiting on a megasquirt system for my GTi. Budget mappable fuelling ftw. And you can take it off and put it on your next car too, bonus.

As above, it depends what you have, throttle bodies with injectors or carburettors?

If it is carbs then speak to Bogg brothers, they are specialists in putting bike carbs on cars which includes making manifolds etc. You'll have to take the car there eventualy to get it on the rollers.

Otherwise its megasquirt, toothed wheels, custom maps etc etc Wink

the car is cammed and mapped at the minute, running 110bhp maybe.

carbs (or jenveys... they are looking like the best option) will take it to 125/130bhp.

My brother has put r1 carbs on his 205 gti, he used a company called bogg bros to make the manifold and other bits and pieces.
It needs some time on the dyno now to set it all up but it sounds awesome Cool

Mate put a set of bandit 6 carbs on his Fiesta (1.1 pushrod beast). Set up was just like the above picture.

Sounded mental and was better than the original set up, but very much doubt if it would pass the MOT.

As said, megasquirt ftw.

R6 carbs on a 1.3? ish engine.

R6 carbs can probably run enough fuel/air flow to make 120hp, why aren't you using R1 carbs?

and if you don't know the difference between carbs and fuel injection, you shouldn't be allowed spanners.

Sell the carbs and go for a couple of big throttle bodies and pay someone lots of money to make it all work right.

Then realise its a hatchback, and you're just being a silly cunt.

If you want carbs and you're having a manifold made up, why not be more traditional and go for a crossflow manifold with a big fuck-off Weber bolted to it?

An SU carb should be easier to get running right

Drooling

Mind you, you'd look a bit of a knob with them sticking out the bonnet of your 106. Unless there was a 4.0 V8 under there as well Twisted Evil

Oh, the ideas. Oh how i wish i could win the lottery Sad

Quite a few people have put throttle bodies on Honda Civic/crx's. Usually go for gsxr750/1000.

Everything has to be custom made, sensors have to be bodged on and it's a complete cunt to map.

It's a very complex mod and I wouldn't dream about doing it. Seeing as you don't know the difference between carbs and throttle bodies i'd leave it well alone.

You could pay someone to do it for you but it would cost you lots.
