Okay people, this is just out of curiosity as i am a law abiding citizen and have no interest in outrunning or actually cop proofing my bike as i have no need. (it's already done Wink )

However, if i was to get caught say 160mph down the M6 Toll Road and the plod was to give chase, what kind of gear can be bought off the shelf to reduce the chances of being caught, such as flip up plates, removable vinyl on bodywork etc etc.

Cheers

A full tank of petrol is the most useful thing for successfully getting away from the cops. Razz

Very few old bill cars that would be able to do 160, so just keep going and pray for some light traffic so old bill have to slow down.

Flip up plates can get you in even more trouble if you are caught Laughing

There was a guy on the news run from the cops for a few hours, even had time to fill up. But when they caught him they had him on a charge because of it. Laughing

Their was a Police camera action where a bike out run's a chopper down a motorway! But they found the bike parked up because it had run out of fuel and the rider was found not so far away.

If accounts of current police protocal are to be believed, removing your helmet and throwing it in a ditch is a reason to immediately terminate the persuit on safety grounds.

So, a QD helmet strap and a good set of goggles in your pocket.

Not telling the person you bought the bike off (for cash) your real name and address would be a good one too, then you can just leave the plates on because they don't have any way of tracing them to you.

Had a thought as I "inadvertently" wheelied away (only slightly) from the M6 Toll booth the other day....

"Surely the company that owns this road could claim it's a private road, set whatever speed limit they wanted to and then close it off for the day, then charge ÂŁ5 or ÂŁ10 a run, whatever speed you like.. Smile

That'd pay for the thing in an evening.. Smile

Er . . . little known fact . . . the Police have more than one car and they have radios in each car. Doesn't matter how fast you ride, unless you can go faster than radio waves there is going to be at least one vehicle waiting for you somewhere along the way. All along tha M6 toll there are also CCTV cameras. Wink

AND only if the wind and conditions allow for it, AFAIK police don't have Kamov type contra rotating helicopters (with no tail rotor) which aren't really fussed about wind

Rearrange the letters or numbers on your tiny number plate (they're easy to buy from the web). Not only will the authorities be able to see your plate, they also will not be able to trace the bike to you*

*In doing such an act you are in fact perverting the course of justice and will certainly go to jail if caught

A couple of years ago i saw 6 guys all on R1's and Gixxer thou's, All of the bikes were black as were all the leathers, stealthy motherfuckers...

anyway there was a traffic car parked at the side of the road which at this point has spotted the 6 shifty looking riders, they have huddled together as best a line of 6 bikes can and obveously weighed up their options, at this point 5 of the bikes bugger off towards central london and disappear the remaining guy gives me a kinda cheeky grin, removes his velro licence plate, stuffs it in his jacket, literally blasts right up netx to the police car goading them and then uses every pony from that R1 to dissappear up towards shepherds bush/a40 as fast as i have seen anyone take off on the road... Left the traffic police for DUST, i swear the R1 must have got to hangar lane by the time this car was approaching shepherds bush he went so fast...

Mad shit that...

Must have been a 98 R1 come to think of it Smile

I remember seeing many years ago on UK police camera action or something very similar, all the motorcyclists that tried to use speed to get away, always made a mistake eventually and fell off. They just could not get away from the police, eventually they got tired and made a painful mistake.

But the one that did get away was a moped with a passenger on it.

They used lack of speed and size to their advantage, did not even need to travel at 30mph,
the police are not allowed to knock them off the moped unless they are riding so dangerously as to pose a threat to other people,
the police also are not allowed to knock them off unless it can be done without hurting them (this rule can be broken if they are endangering other peoples lives).

The moped eventually found a pedestrian bridge over a dual carriage way or motorway, the moped used it, the police car could not follow.
It would not have mattered if their was a police bike following, it would have been to wide to get through the bollards.

The bad news was the moped was stolen and the riders never found, but this is happening all the time, every ware in similar situations, so I am not posting anything the moped thieves do not already no.

One things for sure, lack of speed is safer for everyone involved, than high speed.

So if you do intent to try to escape, don’t drive dangerously or even break the speed limit, find a pedestrian bridge or a long traffic jam.

I hope my advice is approved of by everyone including law enforcement, since the bike, thief, civilians and the police themselves should all come out of it better than the other ideas (not trying to escape is the best of course).

Police stop sticks (hollow spikes) can not be used on motorbikes, since they would cause uncontrollable deflation and make the bike uncontrollable and cause the rider and anyone else on the road (pedestrians) potentially very serious injuries. Again this has been all over the TV, so I am not posting any secrets.

I would suppose that they dont show the tapes where the motorcyclists gets away on any police shows purely because it would encourage more people to try it, instead of getting nice, easy catches Thumbs Up . In my mind, If you get caught much over 100mph, you mayaswell keep going, your probably already banned anyway!

Have seen one where they had to abandon the chase. Was pissing myself laughing, they just couldn't keep up with the bike in traffic on the country roads and the police bikes were somewhere else for some reason.

Seen another where they couldn't catch him, so they got a police bike on his tail. Where they'd been chasing for about half an hour, the bike caught up in a couple of minutes. The rider gave up.
