2 little sh*t head kids nicked my cbr125 last night (Leeds)

I now know how other people feel when their bikes were stolen.

Around 7pm i see 2 little chavvy kids (aged 16-18) run through the communal garden for our block of flats, through the bush and over the street, then jumped the fence and through the allotments on the other side of the road. I just thought they were messing about 'garden hopping'

An hour later my bike vanishes right under my/my flat mate/flat mates girlfriends noses.

My bike was parked right outside my front door, the living room window, and my bedroom window. All lights were on and blinds still open. They actually had the balls to walk past an open window and nick it. I was in the shower at the time.

My flat mate saw the little shits at the bottom of our street on my bike, just starting it up and riding away.

Its my only form of transport, so im absolutely stuck now just because two twats wanted a bit of fun.

Just been out on my push bike this afternoon looking in school grounds/woods etc to see if its been dumped, but had no luck.

If its never recovered, does anyone know how long my insurance company will take to give me some money for it if the claims successful?

If anyone lives in the Leeds/Roundhay area please look out for a blue cbr 125!

Sorry to hear that man, i had my bike nicked recently but thankfully it was found, relatively unscathed...

Walk around all the local council estates/industrial areas, theres a chance they ragged it around and then dumped it...

Did you have a full tnak of petrol in it? even if they managed to "hotwire" it, chances are they wont be able to get the petrol cap off without fucking it... Which may limit the range they could have gotten...

Chain your bike to something like a lamppost, something that they can't take with them. In fact one time I chained my moped to a car wheel to stop chavs stealing it, but yes as you can imagine I had to rush back to avoid a huge earache of the driver if he got back before me.

Cheers, I will keep an eye out. The last time I heard of a stolen ped I saw it being stuffed into the house across the road the very same day.

And they had another two, which one of the scrotes decided to take for a quick blast with no helmet on, and proceeded to be splattered all over the side of a minibus.

OH YES OH YES OH YES...the cops have recovered my bike.

I just had a call from them. They caught the lad on the bike but he got away, but the cops have a good idea who he is.

The nice police lady said it looks to be in one peice and is currently being held at a garage in Leeds for some finger print examination.

I should be able to pick it up tomorow (monday) but i have no idea if i'll be able to ride it home, or if the ignition or anything else is damaged.

UPDATE - been to the recovery garage today to pick my bike up. She's quite badly damaged

All the indicators are damaged, no wing mirrors, the ignition wire thing has been cut, the actual ignition key hole is damged, the fuel tank cap is damaged (the little shit has rammed a screwdriver down it to try get it open) and its been dropped on its side so theres a lot of scratches to the body work and exhaust. I was shocked when i saw it.

There was just enough fuel for me to ride to a nearby bike service shop. They are going to give me a quote of how much it would cost to repair, but they think it will be quite a lot and not worth it.

The most annoying thing is is that i was planning on selling it in a few weeks and would have got around £1200 for it, but now it'll be worth a few hundred

I'm not very clued up with insurance claims. I'm covered for TPFT. Should i make a claim? Or just sell it and keep my no claims bonus?

The lockset (ignition barrel & petrol cap) will be the priciest bit.

Hmm, pattern mirrors and cheap mini indys...plenty of elbow grease on the scratches (depending how bad). You never know, you could get it back to 80 - 90% of it's previous state fairly cheaply doing the work yourself.

AFAIK you can buy replacement petrol caps that come with thier own keys for cars - not sure if the same applies to bike ones.

As for the ignition switch - you could buy a cheap keyswitch from Maplin, wire it up and hack that in place. All depends how bothered you are about the cosmetic quality of the thing really.

Alternatively go to a scrappy and buy a complete new barrel and petrol cap for the same or a similar kind of bike...

Indicators are usually just a case of screwing them on.

The indys can be a bit of an arse on the CBR - if I remember correctly, a fair bit of fairing needs to be removed to get the buggers out. Depends if you've the time/patience/tools.

If you have the above in abundance, then get the old ones out, in the holes where they were just put the new one's stalk's in(minus the nut) and then thread the wires through the nut, then screw the nut onto the stalk of the indicator, tighten up but no too tight, then wire up or get someone to do that for you.

But if you'd already gathered that, well done.
