I spent time 50Ks north of Chernobyl in the city of Gomel in Belarus.
The wind blew north in May 1987 and the waste and ash came down like snow over the town. I was last there in 2000 and I wonder how many of the kids I was with in the university will live to 40. I have a tattoo of a V-Twin engine on my back that was done out in the woods by a local bike club. It just says Gomel 2000, not the best ink in the world but it means a lot to me.

Most of the fall out is now soil bound. Do not drink water from the area of eat anything growing in the area and you are ok.

That's an amazing picture Ariel.

Not only is it sad because of the number of people who died pretty much immediately from the radiation, but those photos are so eerie because you can see people have just left their lives behind. Half of them won't even be alive now.

Makes you wonder what became of them.

Humanity's greed willl fuck us all up one day.
