Says 145mph for my Thundercat. That's exactly what I've had on the clock so I wont argue with that.

Can't be at the wheels.

With the mods I'm running 114.8 or something at the wheels I has a dyno print out somewhere as well Laughing

I think the k6 - 7 is about 110 at the wheels.

The ZX9 shows 175 on the MCN site. At our Bruntingthorpe day the fastest run was 172, so thats pretty close.

One thing it showed me though is how much the rider and technique has to do with it, and how much speedo's are out at those speeds.

None of us could get above 160ish, but the RiDE tester, on the same bikes, consistently got about 10mph more than each of us. You think you're crouching under the screen, but then see a photo of yourself and realise you're nowhere near as low as as you should be, and those few inches make a lot of mph difference. Its certainly not just a case of winding on the throttle and holding on. I had plenty of runway left but the bike had stopped accelerating because I was messing up the aerodynamics (textiles didnt help either)

My clocks were reading close to 185mph on the fastest run (RiDE tester) but the datalogger showed 166. All the bikes were simililarly out.

165mph tops, sounds more than quick enough for me, so I'll take their word for that, but 165 mile tank range Thinking topped up just neigh on the ton mark Laughing

It says 70mph for the YBR. I have hit that but going downhill. It probably could hit that on the flat but my 21st, 6'3" frame won't help. I can get it to about 63mph on the flat.

Read the review of my K5 750, and i'm absolutely amazed at MCN for almost getting something right for a change!
Claimed 175mph top speed, i've seen 177 on the clocks - which is probably around a real world 150-160mph.
Thumbs Up
Tank range - 160miles, yeah, right! Fuel light comes on at around 100miles, maybe i could eek a further 60 miles out of it if i rode like a snail, but i'm not willing to take the risk (or ride like such a big gaylord).

Would agree, but not with the tank range.
Quote:
Fuel capacity 17 litres
Average fuel consumption 52mpg
Tank range 165 miles

Never had a tank that did less than 60 mpg, more often than not its 68 mpg, best ever 70 mpg. Which works out at, at least 200 miles per tankfull before reserve.

Maybe its the fact that i more often than not change gear around 3k revs. Rather than thrashing the nuts off in lower gears.

Well the stats they give for the Vmax are bollocks for a start!

It was 1st sold in 85 not 86, and I don't know about the US or UK markets but the Jap one Himself has just bought is full power and is a claimed 145 bhp not 140............ Confused It's been given an age-related plate and it's on an E-reg, which I reckon makes it 87/88 (which is odd cos the chassis no suggested it was an 86 but never mind).

As for 160 top speed it's possible I suppose, but I've never seen anyone get that out of one at BDB or the Pod, but then again I suspect you'd need a bit more than a quarter mile to get up to it and wherever you tried would have to be dead straight, and wide! Laughing

The reg stuff came through for his yesterday so it's all legal now. Pity I can't reach the floor on it really.......... Sad

Not impossible.

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikereviews/searchresults/Bike-Reviews/Yamaha/Yamaha-FJR1300A-2001---current/?&R=EPI-247

FJR quoted at 154mph

I've got it clocked at 146 on the GPS, with luggage, and I backed off due to a weave brought on by turbulence around the luggage. I reckon 154 is quite possible without the panniers

On my XR125 they say top speed of 65mph, well I've had more out of mine! (Not much more though! Razz )

However, further down on the write up it states:
"Extras include a top box (which looks hilarious) and a belly pan."

Well I have a top box on mine and it doesn't look THAT hilarious thank you very much!! Shocked Wink
