Hi all, I fink I killed my RF600....I was riding home and had a slight rattle sound for a few days until the other day when it sounded like I was about to jem the engine tight!!!! Loud rattlein, knockin and then nothin!!! Engine died , bike coasted to a stop and I found myself with a long walk home!!!
I got the bike back home and tried to start it.....bad idea!!! as soon as it fired up it rattled and screached and made a hell of a noise!!
Now, I have had a bike mechanic friend have a look and he said its prob the crank? possibly just big end or maybe a bit of both but he said he sure its crank? I havent a clue!!!
I have stripped a GS500 and a Bandit 400VVC and managed to put them back together....eventually...but how difficult is it on a RF600 if it is the crank or whateva???
Without knowing the actual problem I dont wanna go stripping it all out to find its just as easy to get another lump and stick it in!!!
Any recomendations?
Many Thanks in advance

I would buy the £145 one from central Scotland. Even with the £80 delivery it's still a good deal and not much more than a complete engine gasket set. You can do the shims before fitting it and you end up with a complete engine for spares.
Before buying anything I would remove yours and find the fault - make sure all the bits you need off your engine for a replacement (alternator etc) are in good condition. Alternators are expensive and prone to blowing on the RF600. You'll notice that all of the ones on ebay have had the alternator removed.
Other option is to buy the cheaper ones and have the mounts repaired/swap cases. Again remove your own engine before deciding in case you break your own lugs getting it out. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
