Honda Xr125L wont start

ok, so at first my battery wasnt storing charge, so i bought a new battery and for a while all was well.
THEN, the new battery wasnt storing charge so i thought it was the live wire because the thread on th top of th battery was nailed and the screw was jus sort of sitting in it loose hence not a proper connection and losing charge.
Now the connection is fine but the bike isnt storing charge again....im runnin out of ideas now....any ideas and advice...things to check etc

more likely to be the regualtor/rectifier we all know how crap honda ones are,
do you have a multimeter??
there is a wiring diagram on my wiring diagram thread for the xr,.
check all your connections and make sure none are broken,

If you have a multi meter, Then cross it over the battery terminals. Then Start the bike. The voltage shouldn't drop below 9 volts when cranking the engine over (don't quote me on that, its how we test cars) But when running, Should be showing a steady 13+ Volts, Should drop below 13 even with lights on really.

When you rev it, it shouldn't really rise above 14, That is what the regulator is for.

My regulator was fucked and my battery wasn't re-charging.
