right, the crankcase breather tube goes from the crankcase to the rear of the airbox... & if i leave it off when running, it gives out a white-ish smoke(normal i know) & also gonna make warm air go in the box aswell... my question tho, is this plugged into the back of the airbox just to meet emission laws? cause im sure this is why my airbox gets oil inside cause where the tube connects is where theres always oil running down from, SOOOOOO can this be left off? as it can still breath(probs better infact) & also doesnt chuck all its shit into my airbox....

anyone confirm this tho?

also it was doing this before i was wheeling

The oil mist goes in to the air box to automaticaly oil the air filter ( I assume its a foam one ?)
Oil on the foam filter element helps to stop the fine particals of road dust ect getting through.

na, its a K&N filter, so not just a peice of foam + the oil is coming from the crankcase which is dirty oil & plus it's warm air which is also not good so it deffo aint for that

+ i oil it with special K&N filter oil

Sounds like it's breathing heavy to me if it's spitting oil back through the pipe.

I thought they put crank breathers in the bottom of the airbox to save leaving them trailing and thus spreading oil all over your back tyre but im sure someone will be along to tell me im wrong Wink

The same place is he dreams up all of his shit advice.

Luxy - the crankcase breather doesn't have to go into the airbox, but if its venting to atmosphere you should get something on the end of it - very small K&N filters are designed just for this. If you don't, you have a hole in your engine that is both pushing out and pulling in gas - which means it could pull some grit right into your engine.

Also the tiny amount of hot air its venting into your airbox isn't enough to upset the mixture or cost you more than about a quarter of a pony.

cheers

iv been reading up on all this since posting via google, & its either a filter on the end of the breather hose(which you said & probs what i'll go for) or a whole kit that goes from the oil filling hole to join up with the breather hose meaning it all circulates round the engine & never goes into the air filter... leaving the air filter without getting any dirty, oily, contaminated, & slightly warm air on to/in to it

Thumbs Up

Have you seen his genuine post about welding up the cush drive and bolting the sprocket directly to it?

It won't be long before someone is killed listening to the crap he spouts

/jamie mode on

You could always direct the breather pipe at the chain and avoid having to get a scottoiler.

Careful Toby or you'll have all the zealots whacking you with abusive ratings because they love him, i called him a twat and got that. Yet others have done the same and no one bats an eyelid.

My honda has this crankcase breather going into the airbox also, the manual states this is due to the emissions. Blow-by gas is returned to the combusion chamber/s through the air cleaner and carbs.

Shaggy ur a funny dude Thumbs Up
