Why are my brakes so crap in the wet?

As you may have noticed its raining a bit outside today.
This morning on the way to work my brakes seem to have given up on me, when I pull the lever in there is nothing, nothing, nothing, then all of a sudden its like hitting a wall.

In the dry they are absolutely fine, there is plenty of life left in the pads as they were only changed a few weeks ago (ferodo sintred street pads)

Anyone got any ides?

because they are wet? , my NTV brakes go pretty poor in the wet too, possible glazing of your discs?

Maybe your brake fluid has absorbed some water and thus it compresses more?

never had this problem before in the wet (well nowhere near as bad as this) brake fluid is only a feww weeks old too.

I might nip the pads off tonight and give everything a good clean incase it is glazing.

You got sintered pads?

Wet weather lag is normally an issue with some pads. Sintered ones are normally OK. Do you have standard disks?

Got ferodo HH sintered pads, and steath wavey disks. Just been on the Phone to the people who made the disks and they have suggested EBC pads, as they are what they provide with the disks!

HH sintered brake pads should be entirely unaffected by the wet. That said, I once got some 'red stuff' ones that were supposedly sintered but were apalling in the wet.

I've had no problems with the proper EBC HH ones though.

I had some EBC HH sintered pads in the Bimota, which has cast iron disks. They were useless in the wet. You could pull the brakes and count to 5 slowly before they had any effect at all.
