heated grips

after a year of not being used, i pulled out the heated grips as winters due, after fitting to the battery i turned em on to heat em up so i could fit them better, after 5 mins they where still stone cold, so i've emailed oxford and they said get a sparky to look at em, 2 year warrenty means nothin to them.
has anyone ever had this problem with them?

ye, fuse is fine, its the grips them selves or the control unit.

The only grips i can think of are motrax and oxford neither would be worth throwing money at as they both naff from my experience Sad

- used oxford on a borowed bike for 100 odd miles in winter and they died half way hrough the trip and had griptronic ones on my scootae which you had to jiggle and shove the wires about to get them working.

personally would be better getting a decent pair of winter gloves

i wore weise ones last winter which were ok ish but not waterproof and now i got spidi zepher ones which are waterproof and pretty warm and you can still move your fingers Very Happy

Perfect fit to my FJ, done 20,000 miles on them over two bikes and they are still going strong on both heat settings. Thumbs Up

Never had a single problem with them but they can be pricey.

Pictured is my FJ with them on. They look ok. Not as sporty as some but hey... it's an FJ Laughing

thanks for reminding me, daytona ones are by far the best you can buy, i'll get some in summer, when the prices fall. no point now, i'll just get some thick winter gloves.

hes not selling any atm when i last checked, the daytona ones are so much better than shitty oxford or motrax, when my bike instructor showed me the set he had on his Pan they heated up almost instantly and they look good too.

Seem to remember certain Hein Gericke ones are rebadged Daytona's but there are a few different models of Daytona's as well.

Pretty much the same as the last series of Genuine Honda ones before they started using the electronic control box.

There's a difference in the way they are wired though. The Honda grips are wired in series which means both grips are always the exact same temperature but they take longer to heat up. Also if one grip fails they both stop working. The ones I sell are wired in paralell so they heat up quicker but due to slightly different resistances and the fact that it's on a plastic throttle tube not a metal bar the right hand grip tends to be slightly hotter than the left but if one grip fails the other stays working.

I'm trying to sort out another bulk buy from the suppliers and should have a price in the next week or two.
