just been watching these bikes which have all sold for around the £1000 mark

I have a budget of around £1200 but was told I would need to spend more to get a good one but these look pretty good to me and most of them have had all the right work carried out with new tures chains sprockts and carb work done, some have a few scuffs etc but still look in good shape at the moment I am after a decent looking NC30 which will be a good reliable runner mechanically as an ongoing project to be ready for next summer so a few scrapes scratches etc doesn`t bother me as I will use the winter to get it up to top conditon cosmetically, this will be my first bike is £1200 a realistic price for a good example privately ????

thanks mate I have been on a few bike forums and had confilicting info some poeple were saying I would need to spend £2k but I reckon I could get a good NC35 for that, like I said I have seen a few on ebay and autotrader for aroundthat price and they all look like good clean reliable 1st bikes I reckon I could spend another £3-400 over winter and early next year to get it looking really good

There's a lot of tarts buying nc30's, expecting (or wanting) a 17 year-old bike to look like new. Back in the real world £1200 should get you a decent enough one.

I am new to bikes but have a good knowldge of car mechanics so I intend to use the winter months and a bit of cash to get the bike looking nice and learning about it at the same time Smile
