All he is doing is underlining the threat that radical or messianic Islam poses to the West.

Taking action based on your religious belief is one thing, suggesting that a mythical figure is actually going to descend from the heavens and do 'stuff' is quite another.

Argubly amaduinajad has some serious abilities , he starts to sell oil in Euros AND really pursues nuclear power (= more oil exports), we'll be seeing £1 = $3 USD, but as said nuclear power has some side effects,

I think it was reported the UK in its 50 or so years of using nuclear power have amassed enough plutonoim to make 17000 nuclear weapons.

Despite the general hostility felt towards religion on these merry pages, there are billions of people in the world who feel their actions are informed by their beliefs. Bush is the most widely lampooned of these - with everyone sweeping over the fact that the only section of the US electorate that he hasn't alienated is the Bible Belt, hardly surprising that he throws in the odd quote to keep his powerbase sweet.

I maintain that it is a fair wackier thing to stand in front of the UN and put them on notice that your version of the messiah will be popping along soon to destroy the West.
