As told to me by a workmate this morning.

His daughter was coming home on the school bus yesterday afternoon, and some older kids, about 14 or 15, were smoking at the back of the bus. One of the younger kids phoned the old bill on their mobile. The bus was blue'd and two'd to a halt and THREE dibbles boarded the bus. Each child had their pockets and bag searched, and their fingers inspected for nicotine stains. When the guilty kids were singled out, they were each issued with fixed penalty tickets.

Well I can sleep safe knowing that my neighbouring police force is right at the forefront of crimefighting.

It beggars belief. My mate is still waiting for the police to come take his statement and collect the CCTV evidence over three months after he had his jaw fractured and skull dented in a gratuitous attack by a bunch of drunken thugs.

Er...I hope that's not regarded as a flame against the police. Rolling Eyes

It's a shame brutality, corruption and incompetance isn't. Wouldn't this country be a significantly nicer place to live if it was.

I hope they explained to each person why they were being searched and gave them all a chitty.

Anyway, sounds to me like 52 counts of an illegal search.1) It should be carried out in a public place. and 2) They are only allowed to search you for certain things such as weapons, drugs or stolen goods. It isn't illegal to have fags on you, even if you are under 16.

Bollocks to all that.
I'm as against police being unnecessary arseholes (or indeed, wasting police time) as anybody.

But the little cunts shouldn't have been smoking on the bus.

Its one thing to teach your children about getting away with certain levels of civil disobedience, and ensuring the police don't get away with stuff they shouldn't.

Its quite another to allow a bunch of chavs to get away with stuff because ... why? Because anybody (even the police) is afraid to give them an ear bashing for fear of retribution? Because the police are worried they will have a case brought against them for unfair arrest or (worse!) assault.

Fuck off.

They shoulda just got my mum round to bang the kids' heads together, and then nicked themselves for wasting police time.

I don't get why you'd call the police if someone was smoking on a bus? :/

My mate decided he didn't like the guy over from us smoking (didn't bother me as much) so he went to the bottom floor and told the bus driver, the bus driver pulled over and kicked the guy off the bus.

Also don't see how the police have time to search that many kids for cigarettes?

Hey, dont shoot the messenger, I'm just reporting what he told me happened. He's got no reason to lie and neither has his kid.
