Did anyone else pop outside from about 10:30pm onwards last night ?
The moon was blue, like a headlight Shocked
I mean it was bright enough to light up the garden. Anyone know why this happened ? Ive seen plenty of full moons, but last night was amazing.

I believe it's the week of the harvest moon?

Unusually bright/high/full moon that lasts about a week and "back in the day" farmers would use the light from the moon to help them harvest crops by night.

Of course this could be a load of rubbish Laughing Thumbs Up

Actually the blue moon term is either something like, its an extra (second) full moon in a calendar month (? I think?) or maybe in a quarter year. I dunno, LOL, I can't remember.

... or else (very rare) its when there is a really major sort of catastrophe where the smoke from (say, Krakatoa, I think) had made the sky so hazy that it affects the moon in more than just the immediate area.

YUp, the blue moon is the second full moon in a calendar month. We had one in June.

I've never noticed the coldness thing before.
But now that you mention it ...

Laughing Laughing

... it has been rather chilly these last few evenings.

Thinking

I think the moon is great. It must be the Cancerian thing, which I try SO HARD to be in denial about.

I was out with a mate of mine the other night, and we noticed it was a full moon. She freaked out and wanted to rush off home ASAP, and I was like, "Why?"

(Being Russian and therefore having a tendency to peculiar opinions) ... she reckoned that apparently there are more suicides during a full moon, so most people freak out when there is one, and don't go outside (well maybe in Russia they think that, luv ... ) LOL

But I tend the other way, no matter how hard I fight against my Cancerian roots, I find myself liking moonlight and moony things Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

You've got it backwards. On cloudless nights, the temperature is colder.

So yes, the moon is brighter on cold nights but this is not caused by the moon, the moon is bright due to a lack of cloud cover.

Been driving at night this past week and noticed it was really bright, you get the reflection of it off a dry road and I didn't have to touch high beam once because I could see so well. But it is just a full moon, not particularly rare, just often cloudy when it happens so don't notice, been clear recently though.

HE:
Blue Moon
You saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own

SHE:
Blue Moon
You know just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for
Someone I really could care for

And then there suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms will ever hold
I heard somebody whisper please adore me
And then I looked to the Moon it turned to gold

Blue Moon
Now I'm no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own

Thumbs Up

As the clouds hold the heat in the air(in the atmosphere) so with no clouds It would go further into the upper atmosphere where the cold would cool the warm air down. Yeah?
