Went to Shit-Fit today to get 4 new hoops on the car, have a guess how long it took to do 4 tyres. Laughing

Virtual beers for people who guess right.

I work for kwik-fit. Providing we can get you in on arrival (no work load already in the workshop) I can knock 4 tyres out in about 25 - 30 minutes.

Thats fair sized tyres too. A set of 225/40 18 run flats on a beemer and your looking at 45 mins.

Im guessing you had a monkey fitting your tyres and it took them all morning?

Was you around when they were doing the work, Or did you leave the car there? Did they have the tyres in stock and start on your car straight away? Or was there cars in the workshop when you arrived and you had to wait until they had a free ramp.

We get alot of customers come in and expect to be seen to instantly. Even if we have a few jobs, They see that they shouldn't have to wait.

And just one last thing. If you think they took too long, Then why not go to main dealer and see how long they want to fit 4 tyres. And ask a price while your there too. i KNOW that labor per tyre at main dealer is somewhere near on £40 (PER WHEEL) PLUS the price of the tyre.

I guess that is because of the advert saying you don't need to book, so they think theres no other works going on there.

I really wish I had come to where you work. I walked in and they had the tyres on the shelf and only had 1 other car in that needed 1 tyre.

To be fair I've had good service from Kwik-Fit before but today was taking the piss.

Theres only 3 of us at our center. Were all far from monkeys. And all capable of alot more than just tyres, exhausts, brakes and shocks. Were quite a Unique Depot too.

We do cam Belts, Alternators, Coil packs/Distributors, and have even done head gaskets in the past in our center. Not just the tyre monkey center most people stereotype "kwik-fit" as.

Id rather be working somewhere else, but im leaving the country in 6 months, and I dont really want to have to change jobs, loose pay in the process and cause grief to a new firm 5 months down the line by handing in my notice. So im just going to stick it out until April.

I do feel quite embarrassed about talking about my job sometimes. Unfortunately its the thick as pig shit spotty teenagers who come and work for us, then give us a bad name down to their laziness and corner cutting.

We don't get complaints in our center, We just have to deal with everyone else's from other centers. The area manager sends them all to us for the "Free of charge" sort out. Whatever that may be.

So come on, How long did the tyre monkeys take to do your tyres? And what tyres did you get. PLEEEASE tell me you didn't buy Arrow-Killers?

Or did you take advantage of the 25% off a set of brand make tyres?

I dont buy shit tyres. Laughing

I went in on the off chance and expected to be told they would need to be ordered in. by some sort of mirracle they had 4 225/45x17 GoodYear F1's on the shelf so I went for it.

2 hours later Shhh! and after one of the monkeys ragging my car up and down the 200 foot long workshop I was all done.

I am going to write to kwik-fit hq regarding the shit service I got today. The long wait I can stick, but when some little tosser thinks he can rag your cold car up and down it changes things. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Goodyear F1s. Not a bad choice. I ran them on my 206 for a while. 215/40ZR16. Super grippy, even in the wet. Thumbs Up

As for the complaints, Go for it, you will probably bag yourself some free stuff. Laughing
Every time someone brings a motor in to us with instructions from our area manager, We have to do stuff on the car free of charge just to make the customer happy.

Gay I know. Good for the moaning customer though.

So gsxrmick, Was you around when this lad was raging your car? And why/how was he ragging it? Confused

Why did you go to Kwik-Fit?

Their quality of service is appaling.

If I want tyres doing, I'll take my car to a tyre shop. A good one. And if I want any servicing work I take it to a proper mechanic.

Most (not all) Kwik-fit mechanics are improperly trained, inexperienced and have two tonnes of acne.

The workshop was quite long with I'd say at least 6 or 7 ramps down the left hand side and then a bit more at the end.

My car was on the ramp nearest the door and when he took it off instead of taking it outside decided it was a good idea to clog it down to the other end of the workshop and back while I was in the waiting area.

I went to kwikfit because of 1. the 25% of for 4 offer and 2. the fact that 2 of my tyres where very nearly illegal and had to drive 120 miles home the day after.

Here a satellite view of the quick fit, it's the big building in the middle, so you can see there was quite an area for him to have a play. He also said when he came to give me my keys back whether he should keep his MR2 Turbo or get "one of them"

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Thumbs Up

I went to Kwik Fit yesterday, took them 20 minutes to do tracking, I didn't think it was bad going. Tight getting it on the ramps though with my front splitter almost hitting Shocked

I would definetly go there again.

Id say an hour for the tyres then three days to replace the brake lines, pads, disks, servo's, cv joints, track rod ends or any other piece of fully functioning equipment that they can convince your granny needs doing, bwahahahahaha Laughing

To be honest its not just qickfit with the service problem, we have a place called 'gates' nearby who never let you book an appointment, they always say just come through as theyre 'not busy'. When you get there it goes in bay z3 and takes three hours of watching the monkeys chatter and piss about.

The opinion of someone who's a mate of kwikfit employee(s) is going to be somewhat biased.

All I know is that from past posts from Kwikfit people on here about how they've treated customer cars, I'd never go there! Subaru anyone? Rolling Eyes

Laughing That a dig at me?

Yes I road tested a 500bhp scooby? People say
"who would let a 20 year old out in a 500bhp car"?

Which I cant really understand, My CBR is faster. I'm quite capable of driving a car thats slower than my bike thanks. Thumbs Up

Besides, it was a mate of the managers anyway. he was telling me to give it beans.

As for kwik-fit employees being in-properly trained, Its not entirely true, I go on training courses every few months. my next one is for windscreen repairs and Air conditioning recharging. After that they will probably send me on an MOT testers course. But by then I wont be living in the UK anyway.

A cbr4 quicker than a genuine 500bhp car, i think not!

As for quick fit, never been there never will. Expensive tyres.

A locally owned and run tyre shop will have much more experience and customer care than most kwik fit employees. At least the old bloke i go to does.

My NC29 has a similar 0-60 time as a Lamborghini Gallardo.
Of course its quicker off the mark than a Scooby.

Besides, My NC29 isnt the only bike ive ridden. Try telling me that a "Genuine 500bhp car" is faster than my dads Hayabusa. Wink
