| Quote: | And you talk about our crime rate? Firstly, you could do with taking something for paranoia. Secondly, since when can someone's drool kill you? Does this person drool anthrax? Is that what the White House is telling you all now? |
If you have an open cut, and someone with AIDS (or any of several other deadly diseases) spills saliva or blood into your open wound, you're infected.
| Quote: | It doesn't take a 20 minute brawl to defend yourself. A man will drop to the floor if you kick him in the balls if he has a knife or not, whether he is high or not, whether he has aids or not.... There are many ways to restrain a person without shooting them, it is very easy to get hold of tazers, stun guns, CS gas, pepper spray... even a baseball bat, these all do the same job without a massive chance of death. |
Why should I afford a criminal who breaks into my house the luxury of not risking his own life? And you are wrong, my friend. Apparently you have never tried to take down some monster on PCP. you can shoot him with a fucking SHOTGUN, and he'll still come at you. Don't gamble your life on silly assumptions to the contrary.
| Quote: | Also, if it is a RIGHT to own a gun, the chances are anyone who is going to rob you will own a gun, as it is his/her RIGHT |
Felons do not have the right to own a gun. Guess what. They still do.
| Quote: | it is also likely that since they know what they are planning, by the time you open the door he will have the gun pointing at your head, before you have time to think about getting your own pistol, (yadda yadda yadda ... |
and you don't think that the knowledge that the person he is about to rob may be heavily armed will affect his decision TO rob, even a little bit?
That is a common mistake the gun-grabbers make, assuming that an armed society would not change the boldness of criminals.
| Quote: | Before you get pedantic, I realize it may already be loaded and even possibly cocked, but if you are going to tell me you leave it in your pocket with no safety on you deserve to get AIDS). |
Before I get into this with you, I need to know ... do you know ANYTHING about guns? It doesn't seem so. I have mostly Glocks. If you knew anything about Glocks, you would realize the ridiculousness of your statement.
| Quote: | Anyway, I will carry on with my thoughts... Your family don't come to see what is going on as the intruder had time to prepare and used a silencer to lessen the sound of the gunshot so he now proceeds to check your house and kills your family even though they are not a threat as you had your familys only gun, |
Oh, I see! you're a COMEDY writer! Gosh, for a moment I took you seriously! LOL!
| Quote: | he did this as its his RIGHT to own a gun |
There is very little risk of someone committing this as their FIRST crime. If they have a record, then they DO NOT have the right to own a gun, but that doesn't matter to criminals. Who obeys gun laws? NOT the criminals!
| Quote: | and after he decided to rob you he thought 'If I dont take a gun the guy I rob might shoot me as its his RIGHT to own a gun, if he does shoot me I may end up disabled and therefore loose my RIGHT to go for a walk' blah blah blah bored of typing. |
Wow. What a scenario you have presented. Lots of words, yet, completely devoid of reality! LOL!
| Quote: | Anyway, the point being, the only people in the community who should have weapons are Police, Military, possibly Firemen and Hospital security. |
Yes. The folks at Virginia Tech held that view. Those that survived the mass killing that is. so did the folks at the San Ysidro McDonalds massacre. I suspect that ALL of the survivors have changed their minds by now.
[quote] The only thing that comes from everybody having a gun is deaths and stupid Americans talking to foreigners about how good their country is because its STUPID RETARDED government gave them the RIGHT to bear arms and kill each other.[quote]
You are so funny! In this country, the killings you speak of ONLY occur in the "gun-free zones."
| Quote: | I would try and figure out what the hell you are smoking whilst typing this crap but starting to get bored after the above reply... |
I am using caffeine to stay awake through your diatribe.
[quote]Again, you sound like some Catholic in Northern Ireland 15 years ago telling tourists that what the protistants say is incorrect because, umm, errrrrrr, because they are not catholic. (No offence, trying to make a point)
[quote]
That point being, if you don't live there, then you really don't understand?
| Quote: | Try being the 'bigger' man and all that crap and leave the thread to die a quick painless death and begin to post good threads so we forget how much of a twat you are. |
Ah, more of that kind, gentle humane discourse I see.
| Quote: | Also, research the people you are talking to. If you had done this you would of realised we are mainly european and therefore have no need for these pointless creations for on the road as we use warning triangles which last longer then an 8 day battery as they are re-usable. |
Can you carry six of those triangles in a cigarette pack?
| Quote: | If we were going to use such piss as a torch we would probably make it ourselves as when we got an education they taught use more than our countries history and how to be a cheerleader. |
Really? What else did they teach you?
[quote]I personally got taught basic electrics which surpasses the ability to solder a switch to an LED and a battery connector without hiring someone to do it for me for $30.
[quote]
I really must study the Queen's English. Tod ate, I have always used the incorrect phrase, "I was personally instructed in basic electrical theory." which is obviously wrong, since you Brits are so proud of your proper use of English.
| Quote: | The US Spec Forces have the ability of a dead Salmon. My Pl Sgt was an infanteer in the Light Infantry, just a normal infantry regiment over here, but he was sent to the US for 2 years to TEACH your special forces, Delta Force or whatever they are called, how to use a weapon, go undetected and basically how not to die. So your Spec Forces are about as good as our basic infanteer, proven, FACT! |
A complete load of crap is what that is.
| Quote: | The only reason your troops get anywhere on their own is due to the fact your government throws billions of pounds into providing your troops with top of the range kit and weapons, which they still do not use properly. |
I thought Hiroshima and Nagasaki worked out pretty well.
| Quote: | Your mechanics are trained on a specific vehicle only for some STUPID reason. I once met an american Sgt, her job was to clean water containers, WOW! |
Excuse me while I grab this shovel. it is getting a bit deep in here.
| Quote: | You could of gone to war on your own, yes. We were taken not to help fight, but because we have a reputation known around the world at being fair and helping to the civilians in countries we 'help'. |
you were invited to tag along so the American liberals would shut the fuck up.
| Quote: | Iraqi civilians have being known to run away from Americans to the hands of Brits for safety as all you people do out there is shoot anyone who doesn't know your National Anthem. Bored of replying to that quote too now. |
Uh huh. Clothes pin please ... thank you.
| Quote: | Just one more point...
I know the UK is quite poor at sports when it comes to putting together national teams. But how come with the endless population of the Americans and the amount of time you spend playing and supporting sports in your country you are so rubbish? |
You mean in American football, or that sissy game you call football?
| Quote: | You invented sports to be good at them |
The GREEKS invented sports. The UK invented arrogance.
| Quote: | Your poor attempt at Rugby becomes a laughing stock everywhere. |
True. We're not much good at faggy games like rugby.
| Quote: | you have some of the best facilities for sport in the world, you have the highest percentage of FAT BASTARDS in the world. |
Alright! Alright! I'll see what i can do to make you an American! QUIT WHINING!!! ____________________ You never see a motorcycle parked in front of a psychiatrist's office! |

American Football = making the objective of 13 men running up and down a field with a ball much harder to comprehend because of the unnecessary play lists and tactics. You can't win a game with a draw. The people playing it seem to be incompetent because they do not have the scope, creativity or mental capacity of running offence and defence at the same time. The superbowl is misleading - i was expecting a large bowl of kellogs fruit and nut in the morning, and not some cheesy half time show. Them motorola headsets coaches wear are unnecessary, what's wrong with minature items such as what rugby referees wear? And because america probably doesn't have as many academics as in the UK (YES, Sir Isaac Newton and Stephen Hawking ARE english ), they lure people into colleges (which we call universities) by letting them play this "american football" which bides no derivation with "the beautiful game". Mind you, it'll probably require all the mental commitment and possibly a degree in order to learn all the unnecessary play lists! Well my rant of american football all stems from the fact that my aunt's husband won't shut up about it - coaches a pee wee "touch football" league - also, i don't understand why they call a game "football" when 99% of the time, the ball does not make contact with the boot.
Sorry i had to let this rant go off!

Bikerjoe:
I have never heard such arrogance and naiveity in my life.
Various points I've considered from this topic, which I can't be bothered going through and quoting.
A specific religion has no place in politics, the constitutiion or laws of any country. However, politics, the constituion and law should protect the right to believe what they want to believe, irrespective of whether or not it's a chrisitan god, a hindu god or the flying spaghetti monster.
Someone who has liberal political views (not necessarily "A Liberal" by name) would ask, therefore, that god not be referred to in political documents as it is making an assumtption and an assertation as to the preference of a single religion within the political decision making.
With regards to military issues. If it was ONLY the US 'Liberal' propaganda machine that was claiming cases of friendly fire, then we could understand you thinking it doesn't happen, and that the US forces are accurate and properly trained. Howver, when it's international media, other governments and independant organisations who are also making these statements, it does question your argument. What's worse is when people we know have been, or have witnessed others being killed by US friendly fire, are called liars. That is sheer arrogance and blatantly offensive to those involved.
When you visit the UK, can you tell one of my friends that he is a liar, and that he didn't see his colleague and friend be killed by friendly fire and that it was all made up by 'Liberal propaganda'?
The US view on the world is very insular, and the perception of the average US citizen to those of us in Europe is of naivety and arrogance. You are not doing anything to alleviate that perception.
I admire your patriotism, and there is nothning wrong with being proud of one's country, however posturing that it is 'better' than another country is again arrogant.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki DID go well.
In both cases bombs were dropped that were designed by a collection of Austrian, German, Hungarian, British and Canadian scientists. Oh, and Ableson, the American Physicst
Dont forget that iconic WWII Fighter, the P-51 Mustang, and it's british Rolls-Royce merlin engine. Yes it originally had an Allison engine (in fact the ONLY US designed and built engine to see service in WWII) but that couldn't see the aircraft higher than 15000ft, relative to the 22000ft offered by the Merlin.
So get down off you're stupid highhorse and realise that the UK and Europe have contributed easily as much, if not more, to the freedom, ability and wealth of the US as you have to the rest of the world.

Of course, friendly fire does not exist.
From Wikipedia:
1991 - American A-10 during Operation Desert Storm attacks British armoured personnel carriers killing nine British soldiers (the same number as were killed by enemy fire in the whole war).
1992 - USS Saratoga during a no-notice exercise that included a simulated RIM-7 launch; confusion ensued, and a sailor launched into the bridge of the Turkish destroyer Muavenet killing 5.
1994 - In the Black Hawk Incident, two U.S. Air Force F-15Cs involved with Operation Provide Comfort shot down two U.S. Army UH-60 Black Hawks over northern Iraq, killing 29 military and civilian personnel.
2001 - American F/A-18 dropped 3 Mk-82 bombs on a friendly observation post killing six and wounding 11 at Al Udairi Range, Kuwait.
2002 - American F-16 pilot dropped a 500 lb (228 kg) bomb on Canadian soldiers performing a live-fire exercise, killing four and injuring another 8 in the Tarnak Farm incident.
2003
American aircraft attacked a friendly Kurdish & U.S. Special Forces convoy, killing 15. BBC translator Kamaran Abdurazaq Muhamed was killed and BBC reporter Tom Giles and World Affairs Editor John Simpson were injured. The incident was filmed. [11]
American Patriot missile shot down in error F/A-18C Block 46 Hornet 164974 of VFA-195 50 mi from Karbala, Iraq, killing the pilot.
American Patriot missile shot down a British Panavia Tornado GR.4A ZG710 'D' of 13 Squadron killing the pilot and navigator, Flight Lieutenant David Rhys Williams and Flight Lieutenant Kevin Barry Main, both from 9 Squadron
British Royal Marine Christopher Maddison killed when his river patrol boat was hit by missiles after being wrongly identified as an enemy vessel approaching a Royal Engineers checkpoint on the Al-Faw Peninsula, Iraq.[6]
British Challenger 2 tank came under fire from another British tank in a nighttime firefight, blowing off the turret and killing two crew members, Corporal Stephen John Allbutt and Trooper David Jeffrey Clarke [12]
190th Fighter Squadron, Blues and Royals friendly fire incident - March 28, 2003 when a pair of American A-10s from the 190th Fighter Squadron attack four British armoured reconnaissance vehicles of the Blues and Royals, killing Lance-Corporal of Horse Matty Hull, during the invasion of Iraq.
2004 - Pat Tillman, famous American football player and friendly fire victim in Afghanistan.
2005
American soldier Mario Lozano is suspected of killing Italian intelligence officer Nicola Calipari and wounding Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena in Baghdad. Sgrena had been kidnapped and subsequently rescued by Calipari; however, it is claimed that the car they were escaping in failed to stop at an American checkpoint, and U.S. soldiers opened fire.
American troops opened fire on a Bulgarian convoy. Junior Sergeant Gardi Gardev was killed.
2006
During Operation Medusa, two U.S. A-10 Thunderbolt IIs strafed their own NATO forces in southern Afghanistan, killing Canadian Private Mark Anthony Graham, and seriously wounding five others when soldiers were trying to seize a Taliban stronghold along the Arghandab River. Graham was a former Canadian Olympic athlete who competed on the Canadian 4x400 Men's Relay Team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
A U.S. machine gunner accidentally shot (from behind) and killed Canadian Pvt. Robert Costall and Vermont National Guard Sgt. John Thomas near Kandahar, in Afghanistan.
British Marine Jonathan Wigley, 21, is killed during an intense battle in Helmand province by American fire. [7]
2007
An American airstrike kills eight Kurdish Iraqi soldiers. [13]
U.S. forces kill seven Afghan police officers. [14]
An USAF F-15s called in to support British ground forces in Afganistan drops a bomb on those forces, killing Privates Aaron McClure and Robert Foster, both 19, and John Thrumble, 21, of the 1st Battalion, the Royal Anglian Regiment, and severely injuring two others.[8]
Let me guess, this is all lies and propaganda spread by MARXISTS, LIBERALS, PINKOS AND COMMIES in an attempt to subvert and destroy the American way of life. At a guess i'd say respected BBC journalist John Simpson faked his own injuries in order to expedite the destruction of the last bastion of civilisation and free thought in the western world.
Of course, Lance Corporal Matt Hull was also a dangerous subversive, as was Mr A. Walker the assistant deputy coroner who described the American refusal to (initially) release information pertaining to his death as 'appalling' and 'inexcusable'.
Fuck off Joe, just fuck right off. I can honestly say that you are lucky to be seperated from us by a large expanse of water, otherwise i think there would be a rather large queue of people at your front door, desperate to try to kick some sense into that rather empty vessel atop your neck.
(i would like to point out that i in no way support or condone our prescence in Iraq [that's I-raq to you BJ) or Afghanistan, but to besmirch the deaths of UK servicemen at the hands of US troops as 'soaking up the lies of the liberal left' is going a little too far for my liking) ____________________ Space Monkey #7

I didn't say it doesn't exist. I said it is not as common as some would have you believe.

Something like that.

Ah, more of that British higher moral ground, I see.

Come on over! Our borders are wide open! I'll make popcorn!
| Quote: | i would like to point out that i in no way support or condone our prescence in Iraq or Afghanistan, |
On this, we agree totally. I don't believe even ONE American or British soldier should be over there. I like my idea better. Nuke the entire region and make it uninhabitable for 25,000 years, and make sure that our children one day can ask, "Daddy? What's an 'Arab'?"
| Quote: | but to besmirch the deaths of UK servicemen at the hands of US troops as 'soaking up the lies of the liberal left' is going a little too far for my liking |
Now hold it right there! You're changing the argument! No one said anything about Americans killing Brits. Is THAT what you meant by "blue on blue" and "friendly fire"? Nice of you to define it NOW! I know it happens, and it is inexcusable! We have the technology to prevent such unfortunate errors, but then again, you know what they say ... WAR IS HELL! ____________________ You never see a motorcycle parked in front of a psychiatrist's office! |

I consider BCF to be a collective of people who have a common interest, i.e. Biking.
That doesn't mean we need to talk about bikes all the time, and it's always interesting to stimulate debate and discussion about wider topics.
However, I do agree that simple flaming isn't a valid component of discussion and debate, but I'd not say that there's been much Bitchines in here.
If anything, I think this thread shows that bikers are NOT how the various stereotypes portray us, and we do have a wider education, understanding and care about things outside of riding bikes.
If I was a non-biker, looking to learn more about the mentality of motorcyclists, and ALL you read about was kneedown, wheelies, speeding, riding fast, racing, leathers latest bike, would you not consider those involved to be naive and selfish?
There's argument and 'bitchiness' everywhere in life, the fact it happens here just shows we are more than 'bikers'
