I was bored this morning so decided to semi-strip the bike. Removed exhaust and carb to look for restrictors, but alas not to be found... Now I believe the speedo when it tells me how fast I'm going Wink

stan stephens does big bores for CR80. A CR80 puts out 28ps, which is almost 28bhp, so it would prob be faster than a NSR125.

I just used the 80, as 80cc, with an average state of tune, guessing it was a trails bike as such, unfaired, and came up with that speed. oh well whoops...

A CR80 will be nowhere as fast as an NSR125. CR80's will top out at about 50-60mph at a guess, they are tuned and geared for acceleration.

Laughing Increasing the hp alone won't increase the top speed, for that you need to change the gearing alongside upping the power! Wink

Oh, on another note. From what I believe PS and HP are the same thing, not sure why they use different names? Keith may know? Smile

Surely another 100cc won't give that much of a boost of power on its own...?

ps and hp are different i dont know the exact workings out but its like saying kph is the same as mph!
it has the gearing to do 210mph but it doesnt have the power or torque to get it there.

Maybe he thinks that if you add another 100cc, that adds the top speed of a 100cc bike, about 50mph say, to his own bike, making it 50mph faster.

Bah, just read a conversion for PS to HP....

horsepower (PS) to horsepower (HP) 0.9863
horsepower (HP) to horsepower (PS) 1.014

Hmmm, a difference of .xx not really worth worrying about if you ask me. Very Happy

Out of interest, how old are you mtthwpez?

I seriously doubt your bike is geared for 210mph, I'd double check that figure if I were you.

Hi

PS, HP, CV, etc are all basically horse power. PS is the German measure, CV is used in Italy and France, etc. They are not exactly the same but they are very close. The difference between them is going to be so small that you would get a bigger difference in numbers on successive dyno runs of the same engine.

Adding less than 10% to the capacity is not going to add much power. Given that it will not rev any higher and you will still have the same size valves along with the same cams you will probably only gain 5% power. The Probably take the CBR up towards around a true 125hp, with a true top speed around 160~170mph. It doesn't have the aerodynamics to go any faster without a serious amount of extra power. A Blackbird manages to make a true 129hp and that can only just get beyond a true 170mph as standard.

All the best

Keith
