Parking in London?

Hey folks, Im off to London next week to the Royal Albert hall and was just wondering if anybody can advise me on how best to get there.

I was thinking of riding down, but dunno about parking the bike...anyone know of free bays near there?

Its about £11 to park the car but Im not sure how busy it will be getting down in the car? Does rush hour around there stop before 7.30pm? or is it always chocca?

AFAIK all bike bays are free, IF you can find one.

That's in the congestion charge zone if you're going on a week day. - You can park in the NCP on Park Lane and avoid the CC. and have a 15mins walk across.

If i was doing it, i'd get the mainline to Euston (or whatever your main station is on your line) and tube it.

There's bays round the back of there, as it is quite close to Imperial College.

Also its quite close to the Natural History Museum, so there are quite a few bike bays in the vicinity, or a 5 minute walk, i.e., South Ken etc., of which there should be a fair few available by 7.30pm.

After that time of day, in that area, mostly you will find only the local-living ped-owners take up spaces, and thats normally in the residential areas ... but most of the commuters' bikes are gone by then.

I think that's round Paivi's manor ... she might have a better idea, very knowledgeable bird

Fran, which day are you coming down?

Have a look here for bike bays near the Albert Hall.

Rush hour in this part of the world finishes really only around 8pm, until then you'll have plenty of traffic, certainly around 7.30pm. So, if you're using private transport, I'd take the bike.

You'll need to get here in plenty of time, as the bays tend to be full; all around that area, it's more residential than business, so they tend to be full in the evenings. If you very much mind the odd scratch, don't bike it, as the bays will be crammed full.

You can park on single yellows and pay and display bays after 6.30pm, though (check the signs, though). Just make sure it's not a resident's bay, as those are usually off limits until 10pm.

Oh, and don't ride on bus lanes, unless the sign specifically says bikes can do so. Congestion car at the moment doesn't apply to bikes, but you'd be paying £8 for the pleasure of driving into London by car.

Hey thanks for the replies, Ive payed for a parking spot with the tickets now, and think I'll probably just have to use the car. Its shitty running tight on time, by the time Ive got in from work and got changed into leathers, got the bike out etc etc, plus stops for fuel I'll probably be better in the car!

Got seats next to the aisle anyway so wont upset too many folk!
