It was tragic - Jason Robinson was the only player who put any effort in at all, and in the end it left him covered in blood and squealing with agony.

I can't remember ever watching us play such appalling rugby - especially not in a World Cup match against a very strong opponent.

I don't know why we even give any air, print or tv time to any ball sport that this country does. mind you it is one of those sports that to put your oponent off you stick your thumb up their bum.

LOL ... I've always only watched it for the hairy thighs, since I was knee high to a rugby ball. There's nothing quite like a rugby players' bum.

Even though I don't know half the time what they are doing or why, I've spent enough years watching it to know that was the rubbishest piece of footie I have seen from grown men in a long time.

They never seemed to get themselves sorted out to run once they had possession - and there's never anybody to pass it to

Many of the other "southern" nations have the running line formation thing off-pat. They seem to be better trained to see where the opposition are coming from - and they've usually already choreographed themselves out in a line to pass, without even looking. They KNOW the guy behind them is gonna be there to catch the ball and take it for them towards a try.

Halfway through I started to wish that I had supported the Springboks instead, in the spirit of Southern Hemisphere patriotism, and that's a pretty sad state of affairs.

If the Poms don't get their act together, the Samoans will cut them to shreds. And the Tongans will finish them off for lunch

Looks like I will be missing the game against Portugal today, but I shall be back with my nose against the telly later on.

I am afraid I will definitely be rooting for Samoa and Tonga in the next English games.

I've not seen Georgia playing before, I'm looking forward to that.

Well, Wales showed us how to play with a bit of spirit. They were grossly outclassed by some awesome Australian play, but they still put up a better fight than we did against the clinical South Africans.

Indeed.

Even Portugal showed a bit of guts against the All Blacks, and hoorah for Wales when they showed more gumption than England have so far, both teams showing no hesitation in tackling, instead of letting themselves be walked all over by the superior teams.

Bloody well done, Wales and Portugal.

If you look at club level rugby, we are pretty awesome - most of the talent of half the other nations in the rugby world is nurtured in our leagues.

England were unstoppable in the last world cup, if a little clinical, so it's hard to see where this lazy apathy has come from.

Well, I'm pleased that Wales got that result today, even though they lost. Everyone can pretty much say that wales are through considering all they have to do is beat Japan( ). As for the English, it's 50/50 Samoa are a decent team. Either England put in another sh*t performance like usual, or play OK and become "National heroes" again. Hope they lose though

It's difficult to know where to start; they were deficient in all aspects of the game and lacked a desire to play. Robinson was the only ray of hope; I just hope his hamstring doesn't mark the end of his playing days.

Perry was totally pants. Matthew Tait - pfft, poncing around like a 10 year old girl - I've never had respect for that guy, ever since he was carried flapping and flailing by Gavin Henson half way down the pitch a couple of seasons ago.

Wales were of a different class but again only really showed what they're capable of after the interval, same as against Canada. Why can't they play that way for the full 80 minutes?

Ireland were very lucky to walk away with a win last night; I felt really sorry for Georgia.

I'd be surprised if Robinson plays again in this competition - if at all. He wasn't actually putting his leg under that much pressure when it went, he was cruising at far less than his usual frantic pace. It's a shame, because he was the only spark of hope and gumption in the whole match.

Sackey was appalling - some kind of polar opposite of King Midas, in that everything he touched turned to shit.

We need to return to our 2003 policies of letting the forwards set the pace and create the opportunities - it's obvious that the backs are not able to do so. The question is, do we have the calibre of forward necessary to support such a tactic?

I personally dont like egg chasing (as us football lovers are not allowed to, its an unwritten rule) but usually watch England matches.

Was a great game, tense from start to finish, far more entertaining than any football matches ive watched recently - shite did i just say that?
