Hi folks, hope someone can advise, i am fixing up a friend of my sons Peugeot Speedfight moped, it's a 2000 model, he's new to bikes, God help us, he ran out of petrol first, then flattened the battery tring to start it Rolling Eyes Then after filling it up, it wouldn't run properly, as he could only kick start, he's a bit impatient as you might gather, he's 16! Suppose we all were then Laughing
Anyway, i pointed out it was an electric choke, and with the battery flat, well, it would'nt work. OK so then I charged the battery up for him, removed it from the bike to do so, not keen on charging connected as might cause damage, I am unfamiliar with this type of bike, and needless to say he does'nt have a manual. So, on reconnecting, the starter spins OK but there is now no spark. Is there an immobilisor on this bike, and would I have caused it to activate or something by disconnecting the battery. If I have, is there a way to reset it? As a matter of interest the lights are now inoperative, the brake light works, but obviously that is on a different circuit, it might be unrelated to the loss of spark, but there again it might help in ascertaining the fault,

hope someone can help, he has his test next week, good grief!!
I'm going to try and drill some old school survival skills from the 80's before he gets out and about Shocked I rode a Guzzi, california, and before that a Bonnie T140V or was it 150, it was so long ago Laughing !! anyway it was the export one, which looked a whole lot better, and had an extra gear,

thanks again in anticipation for the speedflight response/suggestions,

jonO

I should have known i'd get stick for this, lol, but it is for a 16 year old kid, and we all have to start somewhere. I can't ride bikes now cos of an injury, unrelated to bikes btw, but i've personally done my time with bikes, from Villiers starmaker 250. through, Bonnevilles, to the last bike a Guzzi california, I had a bike licence before my car licence Smile one of my boys is into dirt bikes Honda CR so it ain't all mopeds hmmmnz! Mind you if I was 16 i wouldn't mind riding one of these things, they are way better than the stuff available back in the 70's when I started riding bikes, although then at 17 in the UK I had a Yam RD 250 which was pretty good but there again a lot less traffic and less boy racers around to launch me into the undergrowth Laughing anyway, thanks for the links I'll check them out

if when you put the key in and turn it on the red light flashes then stays on then your immobilizer has come on you can turn it off if you have a red master key if you havent got that key you cannot reprogram the cdi unit then you would have to,
1) buy a new lock set and a cdi unit £260
2)buy an aftermarket cdi which overrides the immobilizer
your choise i hope this was some help Smile
