After many weeks of trying to find spare time, I managed to meet up with Sparks and his guys, to do a photoshoot.
This is an area I've enjoyed shooting in the past, but it's always been vary ad-hoc. I am sponsoring Sparks, and providing as much photography as possible for his plans in UK competitions.
I only had a couple of hours, and Sparks had been playing for about 5 hours before I arrived, so I'm sure he could be even better if he wasn't so knackered!
(that's it for excuses mate!  )
I started off just letting the guys buz around and do their things, as I had never seen them stunt before and wanted to get a feel for things before getting too close. I did however find that by keeping my distance and using my longer 120-300 f/2.8 lens (same as I do for track racing) I could get good shots and nice blurred backgrounds!
I did have a 24-70 lens, but I didn't get on too well with it, (and also played with flash) I intend to work on that more next time, and also I'm more confident with the guys now to get closer!
Anyway, enjoy the pics:

Guys, GREAT PHOTOS!!!! 
Sparks..is your bike road legal? i see lights/plates/indicators etc?
Swaffs - do you have any tips/URL's for us camera newbies? Your photos are always really good, clear and perfectly framed. Im using a minotla 5d with 120 and 55 lens?
(both of you please keep posting your pics, they are a joy to behold!)

Thanks for your comments, it's nice to here you guys enjoy them as much as I do, with regards to tips, check out the big thread that was on here regarding photography for new guys, it'll save all the same great info getting repeated.
Kickstart/Silver/myself and many other put some usefull stuff in (sorry I didn't actually go into the thread to do name checks)
Anyway here's some more pics from yesterday (some of the other guys)
My baseline settings were with the camera in TV mode, about 1/400th shutter speed and ISO 400 (because it was intermittently cloudy)
This gave an approximate Apeture of beweent 4 and 5.6 which would ensure the subject was in focus and sharp, but blur out the background.
That seemed a fairly save baseline for me.
I spent most time on the long lens zooming between 120-300
If I was going to do a side on shot, I would quickly slow the shutter down a few clicks, and that helped to give a greater sence of movement.

If the shot was slow and head on, then I might speed it up a touch, to give greater blur:

But generally I stayed in the safe zones, as it was my first time out with these guys and I wanted to ensure I got some nice sharp shots before getting too 'arty'

Oh the biggest thing to remember, and it can really make a difference.
This about where the lifght is coming from, you don't always need the sun directly behind you, but try not to shoot into the sun without a flash for fill (unless you are trying something art of course)
if the bike is all in shadow, you will lose so much details. look at pic #4 above, see the shadow(albeit not much), the sun was lighting the bike up nicely. And shadows inside open visors could kill a facial expression.

I would normally use noise nija etc. for things like that, but these were pushed out quick. I would send them of to print in that condition!
I really wanted to get some up close 24mm shots, but maybe next time...
or a 15mm fisheye!
Nice equipment I get to pay for! is
Canon 1DMkIIN and Sigma 120-300 f/2.8
and a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 usually with Canon speedlight 580EX
With 20D as a spare.
over the years the upgrades have got very expensive!
I've recently spent over 500 quid on studio lighting and backdrops, so just lookin for willing models......
