Anybody got any info on this? Don't really want to join the TRF, it seems a bit flat cap and pipe-y, although I could be wrong....
Also, am I right in thinking there are a lot of routes in the Boxhill area?

There's some decent routes around boxhill. Best bet is to get an appropriate OS map of the area and have a look for byways etc.

Luke went out with the TRF and I believe was fairly pleasantly surprised.

Absolutely nothing in at all in West Sussex. In the whole of the county there's a grand total of 7 miles of B.O.A.T's and the one's that I've checked out are tarmac Sad

Unsure about East Sussex, as this postal strike is delaying my copy of the definitive map.

A few of them have had Traffic restriction orders placed on them, or have been closed off due to foot & mouth Sad

Thanks for that CagivaGeezer, very useful. I may have to travel a little further afield to get dirty. I'm glad I've got a van Smile

Dave, should be picking up a GasGas 300 in the next week or so. I've got to get my arse in gear and pick up some new clobber and boots now. Its not cheap this off road mallarkey, is it? Is your off roader up and running?

Not so cheap to get started, but pretty cheap to keep going once you've got all the kit.

Think it's a bit later on in the year, but worth looking out for the off road show at the NEC.

If you've got a van, there's plenty of possibilities.

And you don't see many speed traps on farm lanes Wink.

I'd definitely take a day's green laning over a day's road riding given the choice, but don't have that at the mo Sad.

Not true, Salisbury Plain has 77 miles of byways in total ( none are tarmac) Hampshire area at a guess around 60 plus. Have a look at the Marlborough Downs , loads of byways .
Thats just the ones fairly local to me. (check out my sig for ride reports)

I don't need converting mate, just gotta find the right bike at the right price, oh then there's the kit Rolling Eyes wanna get a supermoto with a set of knobblys aswell, probably looking at honda 450/650, but could be tempted by a rm250 2 stroke

Rob, gears not that expensive. Check out Ebay. I've just bought lid and goggles for about 90 quid (bikes of brighton Thumbs Up ) and am getting some Alpinestar boots for about 140. Body armour on ebay just went for 40 quid, works out a lot cheaper than road gear.

Korn Ste and I did, yea.

We parked up a bit later than originally intended, leaving at about 10:30, with bikes loaded with camping stuff.

Followed a rather haphazard route around Salisbury plain at night, until we found the designated camping spot (about 1am, I think), set up tents, made a fire and had a few beers etc.
Next day we packed up and took our stuff back to the van (much quicker in the daylight, oddly Smile ) and then went out to play.

Why we couldn't have parked the van where we want to camp (which was by a road) then got out to play at night, I'm not sure Smile.

Good fun, but make sure you call ahead to check they won't be shooting you.
The tank-trials area is fun, just don't get too confident as I did!

For off road kit then you're better off at the Dirt Bike Show at Stoneleigh: www.dirtriderexpo.co.uk

Motocross is a fashion business, so you can pick up this year's kit at a reasonable price as 2008's kit will be out and about by then.

Did we do this one when I went out with you? - extrapolating from what I see (compensating with the camera simplification function) and knowing how well/confidently you normally ride, that does look tough!!! ... I do remember one we did that was known as a real toughy, but I don't think it was that one ... (can you remember which one that was).

I'll have to come Sussex way again at some point, I really enjoy riding with you and Imonster!! Thumbs Up

Was it Crowborough where we went up and down the road a few times before working out which way we need to go?? If it was, then presumably we did that lane!! Thumbs Up

I do remember one that was all rocky, had me stalling the bike lots and had me sweating profusely!! Cool
