A chap up the road from me was paddling his bike (engine not running but keys in the ignition) off the road onto his garden when a policeman stopped next to him.

This is the same ginger prick of a copper that pulled me over twice in 2 days for wearing jeans.

Anyway he has given him a fine (not sure how much ) and a producer for riding his bike without a helmet!

I really do think this copper has it in for bikers. Just walking down my street I have counted 4 cars without valid tax and the police do nothing about it. There are a family of drug dealers 2 doors down and all the police care about is targetting bikers at the moment.

Its really making my blood boil.

End of rant.

The Motor Cycles (Protective Helmets) Regulations 1997 wrote:

1. Save as provided in paragraph (2), every person driving or riding (otherwise than in a side-car) on a motor bicycle when on a road shall wear protective headgear.

2. Nothing in paragraph (1) shall apply to any person driving or riding on a motor bicycle if-

1. it is a mowing machine; or
2. it is for the time being propelled by a person on foot.

Think you might like to point this out to him!

As said above, you can now push a bike without wearing a helmet. However, this wasn't always the case and sounds like the copper is behind the times. Being familiar with the current law is part of the job description. A quick note to the chief constable should put him right Wink Thumbs Up

And while you're doing that your friend might want to mention the fact that this policeman seems to pick on motorcyclists and ignores the drug dealers and and out of date tax discs in the same road!

So you never have to go far for drugs then?

A whole family of them?......do they beat each other up and have turf wars?....must be hard to sell drugs with a few other dealers in your front room, I bet their prices are well cheap, they must undercut each other to hell. Or do they specialise...one sells puff...one sells crack...one sells pills etc Laughing

when i first read this i was thinking to myself it is actually legal but i have been shown otherwise =]

He was only looking out for your safety with your jeans on maybe its a little pedantic but still the point is there.

Have you told him about the drug dealers? If they only do small stuff the police cannot really touch them without going through a shit load of paper work and this is why they usually do not bother unless its high classed stuff.

The tax discs i would remind him of tho Thumbs Up Karma

When was the last time you heard of a cop pulling a car over and telling the driver he would be safer in a higher ncap rated car!

RHETORICAL QUESTION Mr. Green

Yes it's pedantic but its not a bad thing its probably made you think twice about going out in jeans when you could not be bothered to wear gear...

i know what you mean but it sounds stupid when i read it out to myself. Very Happy

think of the policeman as your loving mother or father, sure they have the best interest in mind for you but you like to rebel. Cool

In response to the drug dealers, its a mother father and 3 kids.

The oldest kid ( 16 ) sells drugs to his mates etc while the mother and father sell drugs from the house.

Car pulls up outside the house and beeps horn, child of about 7 comes to the car takes the order from the car and money goes back inside obviously to mum and dad.

Child comes back outside with drugs and hands them to the driver.

Its like a fooking drive thru for drugs.

And yes I have told the police and child protection numerous times about it but the usual response is " we will send someone out to look when we have someone available"

Allthough last year they did get done for growing canabis, it had snowed and eveyones roof had snow on it except theirs. The heat from the lamps etc had melted the snow!! Laughing Laughing

Idea buy some off them then cover it with arsenic/similar poison and sell it back. Tell them all to take a sample at the same time. What they do call the police?

Stopping a person on a bike because they're wearing jeans is crossing the line between upholding the law and invasive micro-management of the individual.

I wouldn't be happy, that officer sounds like he's crossed that other line between doing his job (upholding the law) and being a nosey self-appointed jobsworth who thinks he has a monopoly on good sense.

Fortunately you don't get many of them, but when you do bump into one... Rolling Eyes

That is all. Thumbs Up
