The weather this morning that is. Riding from Southampton to Richmond up the M3 at 90ish, it was very, very cold.

Winter gloves did not prevent my fingers from going numb, and my mouth and nose were fooking freezing.

Did the same trip yesterday, and it wasn't quite as bad. I think winter has broken, happarently it will be 1degree overnight down here. Ouch.

The bike don't like the cold either - starts misfiring/not wanting to accelerate, which just adds to the annoyance! Gotta go back soon - shouldn't be so bad. Am contemplating heated grips for the remaining 6 weeks I have left in the UK!

Just thought I'd share my pain. Smile

Haha. I did Reading to Southampton this morning, leaving at 8am. Very frosty/misty indeed. And I only had thin suit trousers on as well due to my topbox not being big enough to fit leather trousers in! When I eventually stopped, I could hardly bend my legs, my knee's were frozen.

Same here in derby, i was thinking i was being a nancy but it really was very cold, need to get some muff lining made up over the next week before I'm back at uni after next week..

Anyone who doesn't want to go the muff route i can recommend brush guards, they keep the wind off and 70% of the problem is gone then, cheaper than grips and 2minute job to fit.

I guess in a way I'm glad I live 200 meters from my Uni and only need my bike for fun and so I don't have to carry my shopping ^^.

But then I don't get to ride much any more Sad

Do you mean ice?

Got out of work an hour and a half ago and the bike wouldn't start... nearly collapsed trying to bump start it as I have asthma! Walked over to the missus' as she was thankfully awake, and she gave me a lift home.

My battery's pretty fucked I think, it doesn't like the cold at all. My whole bike was covered in vapour - it was like it'd been raining but it hadn't.

I rode to work yesterday morning at 8am. Summer gloves were dreadful! it was only a 3 mile ride but oh my god were my hands cold!

I put my foot down at a roundabout and there was a film of ice on the white lines forming, Very slippy.

The bike will probably be going into hibernation soon until the weather picks up again next year. Smile

Yep, my 30 mile commute almost made me cry. Even with microfleece lined snowboard gloves my hands felt as though they were being jabbed with needles, and my chest stung from cold. Need a better jacket asap Laughing

25-mile commute to work (thank god I moved offices, so it wasn't a 45-mile) and it was pretty cold. Summer gloves did a decent job working with my heated grips (my warmer gloves are shorter, so the wind ended up going up my sleeve when I tried). I'll be picking up some glove-liners when I go into town soon, I think.

Redex helps to prevent carb icing like that.

Luckily I have a nice big wide oldskool GSXR motor that defrosts the air nicely before it hits the carbies!
