Righto, with the new Ninja 250 getting released (at some point in the future hopefully), I need some help / opinions about where to actually get it (and some new semi-colour-matching gear).

There is a Kawasaki dealership here in Oxford, called TW Motorcycles, so if anyone knows about them then please give me some info on them.

Anyway, from doing some research it seems that George Whites is a good dealership to get the actual bike from - however thier branch here in Oxford is Yamaha only, meaning that if I wanted to sit on the bike before I bought it I'd have to go to Swindon (again, no problem with that I can go there if I must).

HOWEVER, what I ideally want to do is to get both the bike and some brand new Dainese gear at the same place or at places near to each other. From looking about, Sondel Sport in London seems like a good place to get the actual gear (again, anyone got stuff from them?) - but this means going to Swindon for bike and then to London for gear ...

Anyone know of any places next to each other that sell Kawasaki & Dainese stuff in the South-East area? i.e. London, Oxford, Swindon, Reading, Didcot, Maidenhead?

P.S.
London would probably be one of the best places to get everything from, but I dont know about any good Kawasaki dealers there...

You could try pegasus Kawasaki in Reading. If they don't sell Dianese, the Honda place is worth a call in reading.

Of course, not that you're asking, but I'd advise against buying both the bike and Dianese leathers Smile.

thinking about it for the price of some Dainese leathers you can probably get some made to measures

I've seen some of the Dainese gear go for £500 for jacket £500 for pants, might as well spend £350 on made to measures top and £325 on pants that properly fit.

, though Sickpup says Bricklane is pretty dead for this kind of stuff now, leathers that is ,

Lloyd cooper motorcycles in North London might do Dainese, got my 636 from there last year, and staff were cool Thumbs Up you get a discount card if you buy a bike there also.

Well, Dainese is not a must, but they seem to be one of the few that make the sort of stuff I was looking for

Basically, since the Ninja 250 is going to be Green (with the black seat area), and because I dont want to wear green gear, I was looking for some Black + a bit of Green TEXTILES (I'm not much of a leathers fan), sort of like the Dainese D-Dry (and I like the Dainese gloves).

Some of the Frank Thomas stuff George White have looks good, but its mostly Black & Blue Sad

So yer, any good textile's that can be had in black with a bit of green and can be bought in a shop near to a Kawasaki dealership is ideal (I want to actually try on the jacket to see it fits mostly).

I know Kawasaki do some of thier own gear, but I've never read anything about how good it is quality wise, nor do I know of any shops that have them - as the Kawasaki site seems to suggest George White in Swindon stock them, but George White site has no mention of Kawasaki gear (may well have to phone them up closer to when the Ninja is actually out).

So yer, let change the "advice" request in this thread to just: Respectable Kawasaki dealership and some nice black + green textiles Razz

Pegasus Kawasaki and HG in Reading are worth considering then (about a mile away from each other on the same road). Give Pegasus a call first, of course to check.

You will find very few green options with Dainese, especially if you have a look at the 2008 catalogue.

Infinity Motorcycles do both kawasaki's and Dainese gear, so you could come see me in the Clapham store Twisted Evil Cool Laughing

The 250 hasn't been released yet but you can come try on the gear in the mean time or whatever. We do Frank Thomas gear as well, but whilst its not bad, its cheaper for a reason and you will be replacing it within about a year ( although they do do a wicked 2 year warranty which is very easily mistreated Wink )

Are you sure you want the 250cc though? Its not a sportsbike - its a mini ER-6f with a bigger fairing - doesnt even have clip-ons. A 400 or even a "proper" ER-6f would be a better option in my opinion. Penny Coin Penny Coin

Well, I want a 250cc because I'm 20 and still on the silly 33bhp restriction thing for a while yet (ok, I will be 21 in June so I can take the Accelerated Access thing but I cba) plus I think, from the pictures, that the new Ninja looks really good, and I have no need for a bigger bike - this should be usefull in both traffic and on normal roads.

And I thought Infinitity were sorta closed for the time being?

Speaking of closed dealerships, went to my local Kawasaki dealer (TW Motorcycles) earlier today, only to find out that they are in the process of closing down, so atleast thats 1 possible dealer off the list (which is now down to 2.5 - George White, Lloyd Cooper and the 0.5 being Infinity, if they actually open again).

Assuming you still have a job.

There is a George Whites on Shoreditch High St E2/EC2 about 2.5 miles from Sondel Sport.

Yamaha only afaik though Sad

Thier "we have everything here" showroom is in Swindon, though I might give them a call closer to the Ninja being released to see if they fancy bringing a bike and some gear to thier Oxford (or insert other showroom) so that I dont have to go to Swindon Razz

We open again on Saturday (tomorrow), although i have the weekend booked off.

It was a Management buyout. The previous holder has decided to leave the group.
The only true infinity bike sales in the London area will now be Clapham, who have dropped suzuki & Aprillia (thankgod! ** Praying ) and now only stock Kawasaki and Yamaha.

Its taken so long to process as all teh accounts for bikes and clothing distributors were in teh previous owners name - as were the bank accounts. Big headache.

(** I say thank god as Aprillia are a nightmare for servicing issues and for the fact that they are closed for almost 2 months of the summer - very inconvenient for parts!) As for suzuki, we only ever sold GSXR 600/750's but still had to stock the whole range which took up a hell of allot of room. I was surprised by how few bandits/ SV's were sold new actually)

Cool, I guess Razz

If you lot are open, and stay open it'll all depend on whether George White can be bothered to bring the stuff here to Oxford as opposed to me going to Swindon (since I'd prefer to go to London rather than Swindon).

Now if only Kawasaki finally gave a date for the UK release of the 250 (which, knowing it being the UK, will end up being something silly like March 2008)!

Edit: I read some rumours about it being released in Japan/USA in November, and USA gets 2 more colours than UK! They get red & blue, while we only get green and black, I reckon the bike looks real good in blue as well (even if the "official" Ninja colour is green).

Edit (again): Kaben, what are your views on the quality of Kawasaki branded gear?

Wasn't actually being bitchy.

MCN report otherwise as do other infinity workers. I hope you do still have a job.

Further to what I said...

I got a phone call from on eof the directors saying that we had somebody coming round to just do a stock check on a few items to see if anybody had been fiddling things.

When the guy turns up at 5:55pm just as i was locking up, i get shown this redundancy form!

So Twickenham, Guildford and Cardiff have closed for business permenantly!

It was nice of the directors to actually tell us if we had a job or not!!!

So I've been made redundant, with a £4k loan left to pay off with no savings, rent to pay, food to buy and petrol for the bike.....

I'm f**king broke now!

I honestly don't understand it! My store had the biggest profit margin in the company, rent on the property was dirt cheap, and we did over £25k+ net a month.

I hope you haven't been lied to as well.

You don't close a business for a week to do a stock take.

I know that you idiot lol! Laughing

Twickenham was not the most profitable store despite what Harley says. I honestly expected a few other stores to be shut, but that has been a point of conversation between our staff for sometime. I would close either Holborn or GPS as well personally - You don't need two crappy small shops in the city. Perhaps close both and make one bigger premises in similar area.

Its not just been a stocktake - its been re-writing contracts with suppliers, getting brand new bikes in and a big headache for all.

Im sorry for the guys at Twickenham/Cardiff/Guildford who have lost their jobs though. Sad
