Today my R1 just lost power when i was riding along, i came to a stop and it just died, didn't hear a bang or anything.
It will JUST about start with the choke on and as soon as you give it any throttle it will die.

So i had to push the bike home and i got a flat tyre on my scooter also this week! Not going too well.

Any help would be greatfull. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

It sounds like it is just not getting fuel or water in the carbs.See if you can
drain the carbs using the drain screw on the bowls of each carbs.
Check what the fuel looks like when you drain it to see if there is dirt or
water.

Paddy.

sounds like it ran out of petrol, check your fuel pump is working, you should hear it when you turn the ignition on

1) Have you run out of fuel?

2) Check the operation of the fuel tap (if you have a carbed R1). Try putting it on PRIME and see if the bike runs. Put it on prime, then open the drain screw on one of the float bowls, fuel should spill out. If very little dribbles out then stops, you either have a problem relating to the fuel tap or you have run out of fuel. MAke sure the ignition is on so the fuel pump operates.

3) Try removing the fuel cap, listen for a HISS as you remove it, perhaps your fuel cap breather is blocked.

Some times it can seem ok around town and have water in the bottom
the carb bowls that will effect it when you go for a long ride and are using
more fuel.
Just drain the carbs to be sure as it is not a big job and can save you from
being stuck in the middle of no where.

Paddy.

carbs off mate, check your airfilter too, and the fuel line filters, theres a little one in the pipe conecting to the carbs like a little reed one.
take of the float bowls and check the floats and all the internels, check the jets too by unscrewing them and holdin them upto a light, take them out 1 by one so you cant mix them up.

if you run into more trouble give us lot a shout Thumbs Up

It definitely sounds like a fuel starvation problem, hence it will run on choke but dies as soon as you ask for some more petrol.

Could be any number of things though but I am also wondering about a blocked fuel breather. That takes a while to pressurise the tank enough to stop fuel flow.

Cheers

Grim

Its probably either the vacuum hose to the fuel tap , the tap itself(WHAT YEAR IS YOUR R1??)

or the fuel cap breather.

Your friend cant say what the problem is unless he dismantled the fuel tap, and the filler cap.

HAVE YOU OPENED THE FUEL FILLER CAP WHEN IT CUTS OUT THEN TRY ED TO START IT TO SEE IF ITS THAT?

That is the first thing to check, you have not said what you have tried yet and you have given up and decided to throw money away.
