I think you should always put your left down when riding alone. Something to do with cars overtaking isnt it?
As for with pillion, Ive always put both feet down just to save the embarrassment of going to put my left foot down and the bike leaning to the right!
But to be fair, If you cant stop at the lights and put the correct foot down with a pillion. Then they are clearly not fit to be riding pillion?
Ive had about 8 or 9 people on the back of the NC29 and a few on the NC30, And Ive had a fair few who cant seem to understand that they need to sit still(ish) and relax!
One lass seem to have to adjust her lid/visor every time we stopped at the lights. So every time I set off, I had to make sure she was holding on again. Not bad but when you filter to the front of the que, You really feel you need to get a quick get away so your not holding up the cars you have just pushed in front of. |

Depends on how long you are going to be stopped.
Long time, both, short time either left or right depending on the road and angle of camber.
SWMBO, has been trained to sit still and ask if she can move while we are stopped.... ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

Personally I'd always go with the left foot so that the right can cover the rear brake like what I was taught. However, I do accept that in certain circumstances the right might be the foot of choice; road surface, white lines, diesel, gravel, camber, changing down to 1st etc... But usually and nearly always the left regardless of pillion or not; both feet maybe if you got a wobbly lard arse on the back... ____________________ My claim to fame: Austin Vince nicked my pen... |

Which ever I feel like. Tends to be left most of the time.
If I'm sitting for ages I'll put both feet down and put it in neutral and have a stretch. ____________________ My Flickr |

You should always put your left foot down and cover the rear brake with your right foot, anything different and you would fail your test for it.

Left foot down, and I put my right down as well if I feel unstable due to slope or pillion shuffling or whatever.
Best one I ever had was my mate decided he had to re arrange himself so he stood up mid corner to adjust his balls.
