£200 no offers

Up for sale/swap here is a 1991 Yamaha XJ600 (pre diversion) winter hack/project.

Thumbs Up 38111 Miles on the clocks
Thumbs Up Bit of history
Thumbs Up New chain
Thumbs Up Plenty of life left in the tires
Thumbs Up Aftermarket can
Thumbs Up Lots of spares
Thumbs Down No Tax or MOT

I bought the bike from a guy off ebay who was intending to streetfighter it but he ran out of money so put it on ebay. I was going to rat it and keep it as a second bike as I’d convinced myself I wanted a project bike to tinker with but after I’d had it a week I just wanted to ride it! I spent a little while doing little jobs on it like hammeriting the frame where it’d gone a bit rusty and spraying WD40 on bits and bobs and generally tinkering when I just got bored of it. I already have an XJ600 Divvy for everyday riding and I’m bored of that so I figured I’d sell this and put the money towards a bigger bike or just swap this for something else. Here’s a few pictures of it to break up the writing.

The bike runs fine and will start on the button after a charge on the optimate (It’s not being ridden at the moment due to no T+T so it’s hooked up to my optimate) and all the electrics work as they should do. Due to the guy before me completely messing up the fork seals, the forks leaked oil all over the front brakes and contaminated the pads so it’ll need new front brake pads and the disks cleaning with disk brake cleaner although I have now fixed the forks and they no longer leak. It’s by no means standard and unfortunately I don’t have some of the original parts like the original exhaust can and the rear light. On the flip side it does have a few little bits one it such as the aftermarket can, mini indicators, new rear light and the slightly smaller than washboard size plate. It also comes with all this other stuff:

Arrow Bikini fairing (a few of the plastic tabs connecting the plastic to the frame have broken but it’ll probably fix with a few washers here and there)
Arrow Cowl (It has a repaired crack on it where someone decided to learn how to do (bad) plastic welding….)
Arrow Petrol tank
Arrow Square headlight
Arrow YZF750 (I think) downpipes (The guy I got it from was going to fit these but the oil filter is in the way)
Arrow Spare original downpipes
Arrow Rear plastics
Arrow New rear disc (the one fitted to the bike has a crack in it but you get this spare one anyway)
Arrow Original mirrors
Arrow Aftermarket mirrors
Arrow Steering head bearings
Arrow Exhaust clamp
Arrow Bag full of fixings for the fairings
Arrow 2 Random pipes

As stated earlier, the bike has no Tax (currently on SORN I think but I can’t find any bits of paper saying it is but the tax disc has expired) and it has no MOT. I have some paperwork (and a key) with the bike including the V5 in my name, an invoice from where someone bought the bike in August 2004 from a dealer and all old MOT’s dating back to 1998. I don’t think the bike needs anything much at all for the MOT, I have a fail sheet from it’s last MOT attempt and all the faults have been fixed as far as I can see. It may possibly get an advisory notice on the rear shock as it’s a bit stiff though.

The reason I haven’t taken it for an MOT is after the cost of the MOT and adding it to my insurance just to ride it to an MOT place (I don’t have any means of transport other than my other bike so I can’t take it in a van for an MOT) I don’t think it’d be very cost effective for me and I’m broke enough as it is! I honestly don’t think it’d need much for the MOT and if it does it’d just be little bits here and there I think.

I really fancy another bike that’s different to an XJ so if you perhaps have a bike that you don’t use anymore that you’d like to swap or maybe if you have a crashed REPAIRABLE bike that I could streetfighter or whatever you’ve got I’m open to all offers I’ll sell for cash too but I don’t know what it’s worth really so PM with any offers you have bearing in mind it runs and rides fine with just a few bits needing doing to it.

Viewing of the bike is welcome and advised at any time and it can be heard running and you can take it around the block aswell if you want (bearing in mind the front brake) with a deposit in my hand.

I’m not desperate to sell it so if I don’t get any interest here I might either just MOT it and use it or stick it back on ebay.

You’ll have to pick the bike up as I am not able to transport it from my house.
