My Hire bikes rear brake stopped working properly so I get a new one tommorro, do I stick with the Bandit or move on to the Hornet (I have the choice)

Has anyone ridden both? I need to choose soon, also where is the Hornet restricted (it will be a new one)

Thankyouplease.

Ride the Hornet!!

If it's the brand new FI version I expect throttle stop mods or something.

The carbed one was washers + CDI.

The hornet is superior to the blandit in everyway IMO.

Original Bandit 6 with a good rider will knock the socks of either of them, so it matters not Razz

But if you have the option for free try as many bikes as poss IMO

You can't see the speed four is fugly (from the google images I saw at least)

Ok the new hornet isn't fugly, but the old one looks a lot better.

I know it's not fugly but it's unusual not many people like look for it I love it i love the look of the new hornet too.

I can't see a Bandit 650 beating a Speed Four any day tbh. The S4 has 20 more bhp and is 40ish kilos lighter it also has fully adjustable suspention and is well know for it's excellent handling.

I hate bandits - I have no idea why they so popular. I've ridden 3 ranging from 99 to 06 bikes and they've all been shite, although to be fair I've not tried the 07 650.

Aye true, although the ones I've ridden, even the 06 haven't given the impression of longevity on anything other than the engine!

sorry to continue an offtopic sideline, but yeah, the speed 4's fugly, but that's why it's beautiful.

As for the intial choice, variety be the spice of life and all that, if you've tried the bandit already, give the hornet a go.

150 out of a Hornet, a blandit 6 would struggle to top that.

Well if your gonna hold 150 for ages you may pull a slight gap... the moment you dip below 130 I would be all over you Razz...

Besides on a track you would have to pass me at 140+ to squeese the few extra ponies out of it... again thats not happning mate Razz

I havent ridden the new 650 but it have heard it really lives up to the name blandit. If you keep the old bandit over 10k revs it will shift enough...

Ridden with a couple of guys on Hornets, It seems a pretty even affair TBH, though one of them went off and got an R6 to keep up Laughing which he promptly put in a hedge on the next rideout...

Its all about the rider i tell thee..

DonUK that is absolutely bollocks, I owned a Bandit and have ridden a Hornet both new and old many times.

I've had my knee scraping the tarmac in sheer desperation as I get round the corner and have even a fazer absolutely whipping my arse on the straights. Fair enough I overtook them into the corners, but once out, they are gone.

Even on normal road riding you can feel the potency of the extra 15bhp and lightness compared to the bandit.

Off topic, but it is all down to rider skill.

Im not used to big engine bikes,I could get around the same piece of road(the bee hive road Wink ) just as quick on my old dt125r as i can now on my cb5.(although if it was a straight line battle cb5 would completly leave the dt standing.)

Note to self=Must take extra training Laughing

Job B, Im not posting this to get a rise out of you but you dont strike me as the fastest road rider (i have never seen you ride mind)...
Werent you considering quitting biking altogether a while back?

Childish and futile as it is i lay down an open challenge to any Hornet rider to prove me wrong and show me that Hornets are faster, as in my experience this has not been the case...

And fair enough if we are talking about The M1, miles and miles of straight road then its ponies that count, In london or in the fast country roads coming out of ile give you an education as to why the original bandit is still capable.

Also scraping your knee is not always the fastest way around a corner... Its more for showing off IMO than going fast...

Edit: Also if your bike has less bhp like the bandit you just compensate by getting on the power earlier, having a better run out of the corner, out brake the other guy by reading the road better...

I'm with the Don.

I have seen a bandit tear a hornet up more than once.

Neither was a slow rider either.

I have the CBF600 don't think it is as hornet(someone clear this up)

https://www.motobiz.de/fotos/101.jpg

Anyway it is pants (I did say that about the bandit after the first few rides)

04 7k miles and rusty as fuck, Honda build quality Middle Finger Middle Finger bollocks. My dads 26 year old CX500 looks in better nick. All be it, it might have been abused but unless someone was cleaning it with salt water I don't think it can all be down to neglect. It doesn't like to start the delivery guy said they are all like that and have been since new the choke is on the carbs too not on the switch gear, which is annoying as it needs it evrytime you start it. It doesn't feel right either it's so high up I don't feel part of the bike. It has ABS though which is a nice touch. It feels slower than the bandit (Both 33 bhp) which I can't work out as it feels lighter than the bandit.
