What's the diddio?

I was thinking about a sportsbike next, but I do some big miles and one of these fits the bill. I want a bike that will rip my arms off this time, no fannying about. I want a comfortable, fully faired, 1000cc + £4000-£5000, capable of handling neglect and being the quickest thing likely to be on the road at the same time as me.

I have taken a beating by a Vauxhall Astra rather badly. If it takes £5k to restore my pride then so be it.

go the black bird,
the busa is one ugly mofo of a bike,
the busa came with the intention of beating the blackbird in top speed ect,
the zx12r or zx14 are a couple of big uns to look at as well, and is probably the best looking of the lot
the 14 is faster than the busa as well Very Happy

Not the new one.

And at the local drag strip the busa's embarrass the 14's every damn time.

I don't think you're gonna get on either bike and think

"gosh, I shoud've got the other one coz it's 7mph faster...."

So test-ride them both, and choose the one you feel most at home with.

A bike winning at the dragstrip would be considered "quicker", but a bike winning at a top-speed meeting would be considered "faster".

Best idea is to try both, having had a suzuki i dont think the busa would be aswell put together as a blackbird now that i own one and can feel the quality imo. I thought about the busa but its slightly over the top for what i needed, so is the blackbird tbh but im greedy Razz
The busa is without a doubt faster but your talking at speeds that it doesnt really matter to be honest, my blackbird almost makes me fall off the back every time i open the throttle. Laughing
If your worried about racing cars it would have to be a fast car to go past a blackbird or a busa lmao.

Hey I'm a Suzuki fan too, always have been. You can't deny the evidence though and that is that until someone puts a 2008 'busa and 2008 14R up the runway, the 14R is faster Smile

p.s. a bit of gooling will tell you that Lee Shierts has run 202mph on a '08 'busa BUT that was running MR9 oxygenated fuel not standard pump fuel. Tune the Kawasaki to the same spec and put a little rider like Shierts on it and it will go the same or probably better.

New 'busa or new ZZR14? Given that the 14 has had some changes for more power.

All the best

I think on the road, performance differences between the blackbird, busa, K1200 and the ZZR14 (or the old 1100 and 1200s for that matter) are pretty academic. Try em out and get one that fits nice. I have a pal with a blackbird and hes very happy with it.

For those playing at home Hayabusa is japanese for pereguin falcon. Whos prey includes Blackbirds.

I'm sure some 4ft guy in Suzuki's marketing department is very proud of themselves for that one.

From your Zr any will give you a brown trouser moment when required.

If you want it for the nuttiness, the bird has a better smidge in the middle....where you can use it, rather than all out at the top.

I bought mine for the exact requirements you mention, was VERY close between the ZX12 and the bird mind, but the bird won on fuel economy.(i still want a zx12 aswell, but can't have both Crying or Very sad )

Busa's look like a melted hippo....that is all.

And no, you won't see any cars in front on any of them.

That's a nice bike - just like the one in my garage Laughing

Comfier than the other big sports tourers and plenty fast enough for the road, but bl**dy expensive Shocked

On a £5K budget I'd buy a nice Blackbird and fit VTEC handlebars to improve the comfort. Honda build quality is just so much better than the other Japanese built bikes.

the beemers are stunning! Had a sit on a few at the bike show last year and they all felt so much more comfier and better built against the jap competitors.
But back on track, id rather go for the blackbird. The busa is a stunning bike but the bird feels a lot comfier to do long range riding on.
(just from having a sit on both, not actually riding). And its better looking.
