Was on the lookout a few weeks back for a cheap VFR with knackered plastics. Found one for £500. Not the prettiest but here she was:

Then started building ideas and ordering parts, Started taking it apart, First purchase was the Abba stand with swingarm removal kit. It's ACE ! Then the haynes manual, Also ACE !

Getting rid of bits i didn't need:

Up to "Near" now(Hmm rads and exhaust are still on, Who fitted them back on without telling me !) Not got a "now" pic then, Tomorrow i will.

Waiting on parts to do too much, but getting something done most nights.

Took a few bits to be powdercoated/sprayed last week, Taking wheels and swingarm on sat.

Found it on ebay mate, he put it on 7 day auction, after 24 hours he stated what his reserve was in auction - £450 so i rang him and said £500 and i'll pay now. If i'd have waited on auction, id be paying at least double, stupid ebayers. Job done.

And St3v3 cheers.

Got me panels in post, just have to take them into work tomorrow for spraying.

Got new front outer waveys on way for the ZXR front end, meant to do this days ago so they could go to powdercoating but too late so finally decided to sort me old inner discs out today, Took a trip to argos for a budget grinder. Bloody £9.99 ones had sold out Sad , £24.99 for a slightly better one. Got back ready to have fun with the new toy, Wipped of the old rivets on the discs, binned the old outers and this is what we're left with:

https://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b53/TDMEvOrAcEr/VFR400%20Project/SS850159.jpg

18 Years of corrosion on them babies. Started the long boring process of sanding them down ready for spraying, Took bleeding ages but they came up ok. Time for primering:

https://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b53/TDMEvOrAcEr/VFR400%20Project/SS850163.jpg

5 Coats of primer and endless hours later, It's took the whole day but we're finally ready for the main black coat.

Whole bike should be finished in 2 weeks. Waiting on parts, Postman laughs on a morning, i think i'll have my own postal van soon.

They use rivets to secure the 2 pieces together. Grind the edge of the rivet off then smack it with a hammer and it pops out. This is my first time doing it by the way but apparantly reinstalling just requires a pair of circlip pliers. How that works i don't know, i'll see when the discs arrive.

Woo new exhaust end can came today:

https://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b53/TDMEvOrAcEr/VFR400%20Project/SS850173.jpg
https://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b53/TDMEvOrAcEr/VFR400%20Project/SS850175.jpg

Also my talented oriental man has informed me my underseat exhaust system has been fabricated. Very Happy

https://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b53/TDMEvOrAcEr/VFR400%20Project/nc30_england_5.jpg

Spent today removing front end ready for the new forks, yokes. Also stripping the tank off the honda decals ready for spraying, and omg do they cement them things on. Used paint stripper for the shoddy previous paint job that this was abused of. Bloody paint brush and wall paint job. Will show pics when i've finished it. Ran out of sanding pads, could well be having some more fun with the grinder just to get decals off but i don't want to bugger the tank or blow myself up Laughing

Been slow progress on this due to waiting till the end of time for parts to arrive. Still havn't got my exhaust manifold through, So the bike is just an engine and frame sat there.

Got my rebuild kits for discs yesterday from stealth, Joined the inners to outers and look like this:

https://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b53/TDMEvOrAcEr/SS850279.jpg

Lonewolf they're easy to rejoin.

Pic shown here:

https://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b53/TDMEvOrAcEr/SS850281.jpg

10 seconds to do each rivet head.

Split the inners from outers by grinding heads off.

Powdercoated inners and ordered Stealth Waveys, Refit with new circlip rivets.

Thats how Smile

The pipework looks a little clumsy to me.

Is it definately for an NC30 though? The bike in the background looks like a tortured RC30...

Yeah they're stealth discs. Wouldn't really mark them as budget discs. £200 a front set, £70 a rear.

Pipework is for an nc30 and has been fitted upon my bike.
