Hi all... Been riding a CBR600 for the past 3 months which I love and will never sell but got offered a kawasaki zx9r for an unmissable price and with just enough room for another bike in my garage I snapped it up.

So picked it up last night didnt get it home till midnight so no chance to ride it,went to work today and gets home bout 6 ish and out for a ride (id been exceited all day about it).

Thing is ... its a bit off a pig to ride !!! the steering is like that off a sherman tank and being used to the super nimble cbr im not so sure I like it !!!

The power is supreme and its amazingly sexy but how the hell am i gonna enjoy a bike that I need steroids to ride !!!!! Shocked

All comments usefull or nor are welcome lol ...

Your just used to a lighter bike.

Ride it a few times and see if you get used to it.

although it may be worth checking the tyres pressure and seeing if the tyres are squared.

I had been riding the 70kg monkey for 9 months before I jumped on the 7R and I can tell you that my starfish was chatting and muttering something like a scatman.

The weight was huge and made me wobble when stopping at junctions and lights, the Harris rear sets making it feel like my feet were up near my ear holes and cramped, the pain in my hands as I gripped the low sling clip ons...

...but after a day its all forgotten and reminded me why I fell in love with the ZXR and why I have yurned after a 7R ever since.

It always feels funny to jump on a bike thats a different size to your normal one, but give it a week and see whats what.

I truely love the 7R and if the 9R was as pretty then I'd have one Wink

Just when the bike hasn't been taken round corners too much and the tyre literally flattens across the middle where all the tread has worn causing corners of sorts on the sides, making it difficult to lean etc.

It will feel like you have to lean loads and loads to get round a corner and when you do the bike turns in really quick cause you have gone over the squared bit.

I'm lazy, something like that.

Which year/model zx9 is it?

Have you checked the tyre pressures?

I'm sure there are ways to make it handle a bit snappier.

it's not hard to turn into corners .. more like the slightest lean and you feel like it would be very hard to stop it gong round .... I must admit I havnt checked the tyre pressures yet.

Im aware that these early ones are the heavier off the bunch

HPI check, it is possible to rebuild and carry on riding with CAT C & D write offs if I'm not mistaken. Pretty sure all you need to do is MOT it when it's road worthy.

Laughing Sorry, may be that you did get a bargain. There are plenty of people who advertise for stupid prices. But the range I suggested does seem to be the going rate for them.

Don't know how many miles it's got on it, but I'd be thinking a price more around £1000 - £1500; with anything under £1k being a decent price if it's in ok nick.

I've seen plenty of tatty R1s go for around £2k and that's a lot newer bike which is a whole 'nother level as far as performance goes.
