Had my rear tire blow out at 75mph today

I was cruising along doing about 75, enjoying my bike one of the last few days I could before winter. All of a sudden it got really really wobbly. I knew either the wheel was gonna come off or I had a flat.

There were concrete dividers right up against the lanes on both sides. I was basically trapped, because there were a bunch of small hills, so every time I went a few hundred feet and over the next hill, traffic couldn't see me from far away. I just about got creamed by a semi truck.

I was pushing my bike along really slow because I'd have to wait for a gap in traffic so I wouldn't get hit. People were honking and flipping me off. I'd just had my new cell phone put on my service, and it was gonna be an hour or so before the signal went through to activate it, so I couldn't call anyone.

Finally a cop car came along, and was cool enough to flip his lights on and hold up a lane for me while I pushed. Then a friend of mine went by and saw me, parked his car at the closest turn off, and ran back to help me.

After about 45 minutes of pushing and my friend helping, we got my bike to the turn off. He gave me a ride back to my house and I got my truck and ramp and went back and got my bike and took it to the bike shop.

Year old Dunlop tire too, and there was a hole roughly 1/4" across in it. I must have ran over a big nail or something. The bike shop was cool and they're storing it for me till the new tire and tube comes in next thursday. New Tire (Chen Shin or some chinese shit like that), Tube and labor for the install is gonna run me $110. Not bad. I'd just do it myself, but since I drove a bit on the flat tire, I want them to use their balancer and make sure my rear wheel isn't bent or anything.

Cliffs: Rear wheel blew out on my bike doing 75 on the highway with no where to pull off. Had to push about a mile and a half to a turn off. New tire with install is gonna be 110$

Ha you think thats bad.

Just had a new rear fitted for $150 and then with in 50 miles I picked up a huge screw and the tyre was deflated in under a min. So I went back to the garage I got it at they said I most probably picked it up in their car park. I still had to fork out another 100 Laughing

I had to leave a bike at a mates and take the rear wheel with me.

And lol @ a year old tyre, I'm lucky if mine last that long Wink

I had a blow out earlier this year at 90mph in overtaking lane on M6, luckily I managed to control the bike and ride it onto the hard shoulder. Was hard work to push it about 100yards to enable a friend to come and collect it, but then I am on a feeble female Laughing

I had a new Corsa on a couple of months back, barely 100 miles on it and I had a fvcking spanner go through it.

Went out to my garage to get the Viffer out this afternoon. Was due to be meeting the Girlie at 8. Opens garage door and Rear is flat! Evil or Very Mad

2 Fresh tyres last week, Only just scrubbed in. And the rear has a screw bang in the center. Ah well, Riding it to work tomorrow, looks like im going to be repairing it! Laughing

Never had a puncture in a car ever, i buy bikes and ive had a nail in all 3 sets of tyres ive had so far! Sad

I've got ultraseal in my Goldwing tyres and have never had a blowout, although that might be beacuse I've just been lucky.

It's good for my piece of mind while I'm riding but not so good for my pocket when it comes to changing a tyre as the tyre people charge extra for cleaning up the wheel. Sad

Only had a blowout once on a front tyre. Two up just leaving a roundabout so was going pretty slow but still scary.

Since then all my bikes have had tubeless tyres and i've only had slow punctures.
