...........in an Army College in North Yorkshire by I think the Military Police. Was hidden by a van and there was no warning signs.

22mph in a 15mph on way out. Wasn't looking at speedo, too busy watching for people walking/marching.

No points or fine, ( I think) he just wrote down car reg, my name and company name and said that if he caught me going too fast again i'll be banned from entering the camp.

So, anyone else been or heard of speed checks in these places and what usually happens to non-military contractors???

We have campus police here in the US.

What an utter laugh.

I got countless parking tickets on the bike which are like $5 a go.

Best one was speeding 11mph in a 5mph I mean what the hell do you have to say to that apart from laugh.

Thing is these people are either failure cops or retired cops and most carry guns Laughing

Also they drive golf carts Laughing

Laughing some teacher at my college was glaring at me and shaking his head when i cut through empty parking bays in an empty car park. Pulled up beside him did a burnout and wheelie as everyone was leaving college.
Got a blocking for it the next day, 30 min lecture on why im a twat and a danger to society and i got banned for the college car park, totally worth it though. Laughing

TBH I seriously doubt the 15mph limit is legally enforcable. Not sure if MOD property is classed as "private" but I guess they could ban you for whatever reason if they wanted

They are a bunch of cocks, jobs worths, but if they report it, they can make life difficult for contractors, gives them something to feel powerful about and no doubt wank over later.

Depends, base to base, I got caught doing 120mph in a 30mph zone at DCAE Cosford, and got banned, which actually ment, "Don't let me catch you again", however, my mate got banned at Wittering, which ment he had to push his bike to his parking space. (1.5 miles!) Mr. Green

Basically, if you're worried, don't push your luck. As a civvie, you're not under Militry law, so they can't fine or give you points, unlike MOD folk, but you can be stopped from entering the base, however, they take away your vehicle pass, you take your documents and ID, and then you get back on base. Tbh, I'd just be careful. Wink

MOD Police have no power over Civilians so cannot take you to court but can refuse you access to bases.

For what it's worth, the guard can also strip your car down to component parts, and they don't have to put it together again. Mr. Green

Unless the law has changed in regards to the MOD police you are wrong.

The armed forces bill back in 2001 tried to do that but to my knowledge that part was never enacted.

clicky

Heres the bill.

Had a quick scan and it appears that MOD Police still only have power over persons subject to 'Service law'.

It'll be a dark day when the MOD police have power to stop civilians as they are one of the UK police forces that are not subject to public control.

Pretty sure they do if you are on a Military Base, just the same as American MP's have jurisdiction on American Airbases

You make them sound like the SS Sickpup, truth is though they asnwer to their Chain of Command and through the MoD to the Civilian Govt just the same as regular Police.

I wouldn't play with their attack dogs though. Civilian dogs are trained to go for the right arm - MoD dogs can be trained to attach anywhere the Trainer wishes.

Security at the last two places I've worked have been the same. They had their own speed gun and would either ban you from driving on site or, if you were an employee, take your company driving licence off you. Bit of an arse if you were employed to drive cars around.

So you can't see a problem with a heavily armed national police force that isn't over seen by the IPCC or local authorities having power over civilians?

Strange that you should compare them to the SS as that's exactly how a corrupt government could use them.

A (heavily armed) police force without oversight is a good tool in an oppressors army.

Heavily armed is a bit of an over statement, we can't even manage to give them ammunition when they are in a Warzone as the six deaths at Majar al-Kabir indicate.

Seriously though, end of the day it makes little difference whether Law Enforcers are indirectly responsible to Central Government or are a Fedral Force directly responsible to Central Government.

Funny you should say Oppressors Army, if we do suffer a truely Totaltarian Central Government it won't matter if there are MPs on the streets or not - there will be Heavily Armed Army Patrols instead.

They were Red caps NOT MOD police

Do you understand the difference between the Royal Military Police and the MOD Police?

Yes it does for the reasons I have aready stated. Specifically accountability.

In the end maybe but the thin end of the wedge is to move accountability aware from local area's into central government and then to dispense with accountability.

As the law stands at the moment The services cannot be deployed to control civil unrest, deploying a centrally controlled police force would be the thin end of the wedge.

As far as I am aware MoD Police is the umbrella phrase for Royal Military Police, RAF Police, the Royal Navy Service Police and Royal Marine Police Troop.

You are wrong.

The MOD Police is neither service specific nor part of the services.

MOD Police website.

Website of the Royal Military Police.

Website of the RAF Police

Can't be bothered to attach the home pages of the others but hopefully you will get the idea.

If you believe someone is unfit to drive due to drink or drugs you can stop them driving by taking the keys and keeping them there while the police arrive.

Not sure how it would work on private property though, pretty sure i could ride round my garden smashed out of my face and no one could stop me. as long as i wasnt causing a nuisance / danger to others.

We have a speed limit on site of 5mph, widely ignored as long as you dont go screaming past the security buildings. And driving / riding safely of course. Smile

Think it is a 3 strikes and you get a month ban system, if they enforce it. I have never been stopped, and i go at 20 ish as i can go round the speed bumps. Thumbs Up

Read the clicky link I posted earlier. Unless they were subject to service law it was an illegal prosecution, unless the law has changed.

I was late for sixth form so I raced to school in the car and got there just in time, saw an open space and started to pull in when Mr. Clithero (cliteris, clit head) stopped me pulling into it saying it was for teachers only.

Well I wasn't in the best mood as it was being half asleep.

Stuck it reverse and spun the wheels backwards smoking them up.

Then knocked it into first and wheel spun off and around the corner.

God I felt a plank afterwards.

Must of looked cool mind.

Also had the schools cop came and had a word with me to.

Laughing

Oh right, you mean the Gate holders... The Military Police are to be amalgamated into one single force.
